Tips on a Dreadmob?

So, I'm lookin' to actually start a 40k army to play in local tournaments (and for fun) and I like how the Dread mob looks and play. Any tips on building the army? I know i'm not gonna win a whole lot, but locally we have quite a few Vraks players, and your typical amount of other types of cheese?

Re:Tips on a Dreadmob?

I have had tons of fun playing the IA dread mob list. My suggestion is take as many vehicles with blast weapons to compensate for Orks' poor bs. I have had particular luck with the big lobba on a big trakk. The big winner, however, is without a doubt the mighty grot tank. These little buggers are points efficient and surprisingly durable with their 5+ invulnerable save (plus they are NOT open topped, so they are resilient to most light arms). I use a squad of 6 with 4 big shootas (2 on the tank commander) and 3 grotzookas. The big shootas enable them to fire at range and more than 6 blast templates is generally overkill given the limited range of the grotzooka. I stay away from rokkits, since there are other platforms for them.

The biggest issue with the list, though, is that it is quite outdated. I use the mob rule (which penalizes the army) and all updated points/rules for units in both the IA list and the new codex. I have a discussion with my opponents first.

The army is always tons of fun and fairly competitive. I run almost all vehicles and walkers, so the opponents has to choose between the long range shooting power of the list (which is surprisingly significant, although dependent on decent rolls) and the advancing, clanking might of the walkers. Allying it with a standard Ork codex is very useful in order to gain mek guns for even stronger fire support as your wall of metal advances.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, and the grot mega tank has served me well. I give it all big shootas and a pintle mounted shoota (just for ). I keep it at range just to add a gak ton of bs 4, str 5 shots. It is a fairly cheap price tag (points wise) and usually makes up its investment.

Tips on a Dreadmob?

I love the Dred Mob. I use them quite often adding a cool variant for those who are all about the Orks. One cool thing about the mob is you can scratch build everything and it looks just right; I built a Kustom Meka Dread, which is a good HQ. When I play I generally take a bunch of tanks and walkers (the more, the better). I find when people know they're fighting Orks they don't bring much anti-tank weapons. Boys do little to nothing in these lists so keep them to a minimum, however you want to take meks whenever possible because their repairs can be game changers. Finally for the love of Mork don't forget Big Mek Buzzgob. He's cool on his own but the real glory is in his 300 point upgrade which allows him to take his own Big Mek Stompa! If I can think of anything else I will post again. Happy Waaagh!!!!

Tips on a Dreadmob?

I love my dredd Mob army, it is by far my favorite way to play orks and the orks walkers are imo the best models GW makes.

My list varies, but I 'run any grot tanks, nothing but walkers. backed up by a few spanner boyz, big meks and burna boyz.

I run nothing but mega blastas on all my walkers. it sounds nuts and dangerous, but it is effective. When you throw out close to 20+ S8, AP2 shots, things die. And most dont expect the range AP2 from orks.

Its not a very mobile army, but slow and steady wins the race. Also a unit of 3 Deff Dredds is one scary thing for people to deal with once they get into CC.
