Watched some WH youtube podcast and noticed the Gears of War boardgame box.

So, Gears of War is a co-op PvE game with AI.
AI is represented by deck of cards - something like "If there is no enemies on the board, place some. If there are, all of 'em move towards nearest cover and shoot to the nearest player".

And I thought about something like this in 40k.
Scout squad behind the enemy lines? Imperial Guard fireteam extracting from the AO? Gonna write some rules soon.

What do you think, dakkapeople?

I could see "Narrative Cards" as a cool toy in general, not necessarily for tournament play but something to add for general entertainment.

For standard games, "Narrative Cards" could control the AI "NPC" units, be they a Daemonic incursion, or carnivorous sand-clams. Draw a random card each turn to determine what happens.

For stuff like kill-teams, such cards could manipulate sentries and other un-activated models.

And of course, you could run games like a "Race to the finish" (Two squads from rival Guard regiments have orders to take a hill. Good luck!).
