So when the chance came up for them to lead a chapter they took it and after building up the chapter due to it being fleet based they took the majority of the chapter to the outer fringes of the imperium to reclaim worlds which had been taken over by xenos and chaos cults in the wake of the scouring and the first black crusade. When they return to the main part of the Imperium their chapter is pretty depleted in strength and they have to spend the time rebuilding however their efforts.in taking those worlds back are not fully acknowledged. As such over time the chapter becomes more bitter and cold to the point where they litrally dont give a damn about the lives of their allies and this is shown in M:34 when allied with a force drawn from ultramarines blood angels and salamanders they fight against a ork waaagh which is rising. It is noted by a inquisitor that their cold methodical way of siege warfare and the brutality of it leaves devastation in their wake. Its only due to a Inquisitor from the ordo malleus hears of them that they are not declared renegade.
Sounds good.

Siege warfare can very much leave a force given to callousness - just see the Death Korps, a guard regiment who treat manpower as just one other expendable resource, like food and ammunition - and Marines have always had a nasty side - they don't have the manpower or inclination to take prisoners.

Compare also those few Imperial Fists successors who really have let themselves off the leash - they've got a suppressed anger at the universe no less impressive than the Wolves or Angels. Just look at the Black Templars and Executioners chapters for examples.

Essentially, they're a fleet-based chapter, who go out and reclaim worlds - and in fairly bloody actions, given that they are or have become siege specialists, but never get the credit for such? I can see how this would leave them bitter.

Ironically, it's actually very close to what happened to the Iron Warriors - the Imperial Fists' Traitor Legion counterpart.

This should also, really, inform your ideas on what the chapter would field. If they're never given the credit they should, and lack a homeworld with forges of its own, or a permanent base, and they're not a first- or second-founding chapter, then 'relic' wargear is unlikely and should be rare.

They'd focus instead on stuff they can rebuild or repair themselves, and on things they can secure from any forgeworld rather than being dependent on returning to a single point of origin. A squadron of predators or vindicators is much more expendable than a single land raider.

Equally, siege masters are likely to favour artillery and infantry-heavy forces. Massed bombardment is effective if you don't give a damn about collateral damage, whilst individual marines are in many ways a resource-strapped chapter's most expendable asset.

Cheers guys
I will be honest the Iron Warriors were part of my inspiratiom for this chapter.
Also im planning to write into their fluff they rarely use pods i can inagine them.still being sent gear from mechanicus forgeworlds but id imagine its more along the lines of
"Hey mr tech adept we are running low on rhinos we need some more can you.make some for us "
However certain things ie razorbacks are not used however they do still have storm ravens. Also centurions arent used by my chapter. In their eyes marines arent expendable however every other resource is.

Fair enough.
Might be worth having some 'drafted' militarum infantry then. Troops you don't care about killing are a very useful resource.

In game, you might want to consider an attached Inquisitorial Detachment - you can have up to three units of henchmen, who are essentially guardsmen with bolters instead of lasguns (quite possible if they're maintained by the chapter) and Inquisitor Kamarozov as the Inquisitor who's their "ally".

his ability to fire orbital strikes at your own units if they're locked in combat with the enemy is rather thematic...

You might want to look at Damocles Rhinos as well.

I'd think a force like this would actually have quite a few razorbacks - they're an easy modification to make when you've got a rhino, but need a predator.
