blog post comming soon , but here's a teaser : modular craters !!!!

companies like GW and GF9 make some nice crater sets to spice up the battle field , but the problem is that they dont really let you customize the terrain pieces , in that the craters are a one size fits all notion . if you want to make a cratered piece , you have to custom make the craters .

so i started out by cutting and carving 3 different sizes of modular craters , then i cast those in resin . THEN i decided to make rubble bits to spruce them up a bit and make them MORE customizable !

now the game i am playing , i made mine flatter , more player friendly for Dust Tactics , but these could be used to make terrain pieces for any game , and could be painted up and decorated for a variety of environments . its all up to the builders imaginations !

i am still working on painting a couple more of the medium size (not in the pics yet ) and the blog write up , but here are the pics thus far . http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-34706-50595_Modular%20Craters.html

i think this is a really big idea , so either this week or next (depending on work schedule ) i will be pouring some extras of the craters and rubble sheets to put in my ETSY shop .

enjoy !

the tutorial is coming . but in the mean time i added more pics . even without the full tutorial , the pics give a god idea for experienced hobbyists to follow .

i started this project SOOOOOOO long ago , that i misplaced the molds for the medium crater , and i need to pour one of them before i do the tutorial because some how i didnt take a picture of that one in its raw form .

on a side not , i thought i had only made 2 "rubble" molds , but apparently i did 4 different ones . i spent a few hours tonight pouring them so i would have some for my etsy shop once i get the tutorial done . now i gotta wait till next payday , i am going to drop the hammer and order more resin supplies .

used some of the resin rubble bits on some 60mm bases for Shadows of Brimstone , came out pretty good , looks like i will be getting a TON of use out of the rubble molds
