Horus Heresy: The Musical!

OK, hear me out. Please.

With such an expansive story such as the Horus Heresy, I think a musical/opera style retelling would be rather entertaining, but that might just be the choir nerd in me talking. All the music would be gothic/baroque hymnal style and very dark and male voice heavy.
Emperor of Mankind- Tenor/Baritone
Horus- Baritone/Bass
Tzeentch- Alto
Slaanesh- Soprano
Nurgle- Tenor
Khorne- Baritone
Sanguinus- Countertenor
Lion El'Jonson- Tenor
Rogal Dorn- Baritone
Roboute Gulliman- Baritone
Khan- Tenor
Corvus Corax- Tenor
Ferrus Manus- Baritone
Vulkan- Baritone/Tenor
Leman Russ- Bass
Fulgrim- Countertenor
Lorgar- Tenor
Erebus- Baritone
Alpharius/Omegon- Tenors
Mortarian- Baritone
Magnus- Tenor
Angron- Bass
Konrad Curze- Tenor
Perturabo- Baritone

As my knowledge of the Horus Heresy is lacking, and more characters that are super important just let me know and I will add them. Thanks for helping with this strange project!

All dark and baroque all the time? Nah. 40k is way too over-the-top and zaney for that. Aim for Repo: the Genetic Opera style music with a mix between relatively lively and energetic/comical bits and relatively somber portions. Gregorian chanting or Handel's messiah music would make interesting songs for specific characters or factions though.

Other notes:

*Tzeentch, as the lord of change, must be played by a different singer every scene.

*Curze is Batman. Batman is probably more of a baritone or bass, no?

*There must be a scene that requires all the primarchs perform jazz hands.

@Wyldhunt: thanks for the music suggestion, and I like the Tzeentch one as well. I considered Curze to be closer to a chaos Corax, and so I cast him the same. Also, is a Primarch kickline acceptable in replacement for the Jazz hands?
@Voidraven: Thanks for that, I might start working on one of the songs soon, post a link to it when done

Horus Heresy: The Musical!

Why not bith jazzhands AND a kickline? It could be the opening number: start with the first primarch that was discovered and have him explain the whole beginning of things, like the unification of Terra followed by the emperor's creating the primarchs themselves. Then start adding in other primarchs and they all start singing praises to the emperor, he comes up out of the floor and operatically tells them to not worship him *hard stare to Lorgar with the music taking a minor key* then bring the tempo.back up, put the key back to major and have all the primarchs line up and kick for a bit. End the whole number with the primarchs in positions of fealty with empy in the middle, ALL doing jazz hands. Bam

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, I'd suggest Angron being a low-end tenor, so that he can have his own number almost, but not quite "make a man out of you" from Disneys Mulan, but turned to something like "make a corpse out of you" during his last battle beforr the emperor steals him. AND you could reprise it wuem hes goes against Guilliman.

Horus Heresy: The Musical!

I can see it now:

Act 1: The Emperor reveals himself to mankind, and starts the crusade. The song "Great Crusade" is a cheery number involving the Emperor and a chorus of marines. Each primarch has a few solo lines as they join the group, ending in a massive repeat of the chorus with the entire cast.

The next number, "Brothers in war" is another upbeat tune set to the primarchs boasting and laughing about their achievements in the crusade.

After the Emperor returns to Terra, Horus confides in Sanguinius in the somewhat more serious "Doubts."

Act 2: The plot thickens as Horus is injured and subsequently corrupted. Erebus and the word bearers sing of "the four."

"Schemes" is actually back to an upbeat tune, very reminiscent of great crusade, but with a more macabre feel, as each traitor primarch sings of his reasons for betrayal.

Ending act 2 is the song "Betrayal," as the loyalist primarchs in different locations sing to themselves as they realize the direness of the situation.

Act 3: "Brothers at war" is an old style piece detailing several of the battles, and some of the deaths of the primarchs.

Lastly are the finale songs "siege" and "In the dark," the first, a huge chorus vs chorus battle song, and the latter, a duet first between Sanguinius and Horus, and then the Emperor along with Horus.

A small, sad epilogue "war forevermore" is sung by Roboute and Rogal, as they mourn the universe that could have been, and look forward towards a bleak future.
