Camo with detail help?

Hey guys so I have been trrying different schemes here and there. All roads lead to skaven blight adventually so here I am making a stop at camo vision.

Here is the problem I am facing, camo is ment to not be seen in the terrain, models are ment to be seen in detail. I have seen countless camo schemes over the years. Some done very nicely but you never see the model just a scheme hard to see the gold underneath. Others done so subdued that it less camo then it is a normal paint scheme hit by paint balls.

So I did what I do best look at nature dor some schemes, so far ones that stand out but blend in are like. Zebra, chamel....the liazrd guys, and some birds. All them blend in from a distance but as you get closer stand out more. Anyone have any odeas on how to paint this or a animal that would fit?

P.s. Is skavenbligt even a thig anymore or is it all roads lead to dark the dark world darkness?

Camo is has a few ways it works. One of the ways is breaking up your outline. So you can’t tell that the herd of zebras is composed of individuals, it just looks like a giant mass. It’s also why we get things like dazzle camouflage on things like battleships. You aren’t going to hide the thing, but we can make it hard to ID or pick out of the fleet.

What are you painting?

I do my camo like Hollywood bases movies on real-life events. Sure, the underlying theme is there, but it’s a lot flashier and with more explosions. Does it make sense for the power cables on my snipers’ guns to be bright red and yellow? Nope, but it helps them stand out on the table. The red sashes, topknots, helmets, and accents on my Eldar rangers don’t serve a practical purpose, but help tie them in chromatically with the rest of my army.

Real camo is boring. And it also works. You forget to shoot/move those sneaky little guys hiding in the woods. Although sometimes your opponent does as well, so it kinda washes out in the end.

I experimented quite a bit when I painted Camo on space marines. I found that simplifying a Camo scheme and painting it slightly larger scale than it should be on models of this size helped. It is not to everyone's taste, but I like the simplicity of this scheme and you can still see the models on the table
