The only upside is they are cheap...but they rarely get anything accomplished. You could just run more vets/platoons.

Some Vox casters could be useful.

Plasma vets are always good.

Scions are currently too expensive to see much play time. The most common use for them is a 5man squad with 2 meltas to DS and pop a tank then die.

The next thing to buy is wyvren. So good for the point cost.

I prefer ratlings for snipers. they are 3 points more than a SWS sniper but they are BS4 with stealth and infiltrate. And a super cheap unit to infiltrate onto an objective, and surprisingly mobile for a sniper with the shoot then run special rule.
