The older hardcover had 5 Echoes of War missions that were based on 'historical' battles of Ghazghkull's. To make room for the new formations and such, the softcover dropped these. All of them.

So to sum up, both books have the same 3 Altar missions. The old Hardcover also had the 5 Echoes missions. If it was scenarios specifically you craved, finding one of the older books may be a better bet.
