Scenery/ Diorama Step by Steps?

Its all I've ever dreamt of doing Making little battles. One thing I suck at though is making any sort of scenery.

I was wondering if anybody knew of any good guides that might help me along the way.

I seem to remember there was one based on this:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/54371-Warriors%20of%20Ultramar%20%282%29.html

A guide that is.

Other things that inspire me:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/162227-like%20in%20this%20pic%3F.html
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/116328-Too%20much%20noise%20in%20the%20woods...html

Sorry for the question. I did look in search but found very little.

GW used to have a book called 'How to make wargames terrain'.
It covers pretty much everything and is a really good starting point if you currently have no clue about terrain.
One bonus is that it's in English English so you won't find yourself looking for crazy American products.
You can still get it on ebay.

Re:Scenery/ Diorama Step by Steps?

if you check youtube, there's DM Scotty (terrain pieces and such for mostly RPGs but not only), the Terrain Tutor (general terrain, broken into easy tutorials) & Luke Towan (more geared for Railroading). You might also get some inspiration from reaper's forum re: terrain. There's a FB group as well, (run by Terrain Tutor, Mel): TheTerrainTutor's Terrainiacs. Lots of good feedback, ideas, inspiration and projects to ogle.

You might also look at the Hirst arts site, I love a lot of the projects people put together on there, again, good inspirational source. Even if you don't use the hirst cast blocks to make something, it's useful.

One thing I do for terrain, is try to come up with basic stuff or a theme, like my marsh board idea. Then I look at pictures of real life marshes and swamps to help get not just ideas but inspiration. Plus I'll go research how other's have done it too.

Anyway just some thoughts!
