The book is oop for sure. The update might be invalid just like any other FAQ that is no longer linked at at the site.
Is an oop book that has no updated version invalid ? Meh GW and FW doesn't invalidate rules, so its up to your opponent / tournament organiser.

How I would rule it. -> Stay away from the update it was a mess really. Lol are you sure of that ? It might be a good idea to look at IA8 you might be surprised.


Things the FAQ added.
-Warlord trait table that gives 1 vehicle some weak buffs.
-A typo in Buzzgob's entry that gives him the option of a Big mek stompa instead of a kustom stompa in appocalypse or other large scale games...
The IA8 version could already take the Kustom stompa and doesn't require you to bend the wording.
I would rather pay the points for a Kustom stompa. It is slightly more expensive but still way cheaper then a regular codex stompa, but it is kustom so you can make the one you actually want to play with.
- It made Deff dreads not scoring.
- It gave Scout + skilled rider on da rippa as a trade of of him not being able to get a warlord trait.
- It killed the lifta droppa with the nerf bat.

On top of that it created a serious amount of mismatching references to rules in the ork codex.

IA8 isn't perfect but I would hardly call that FAQ an improvement.
