A store is trying to start up a 40K Starter set League where you buy a starter set from him and he will set up games and matches. I am not sure what to get. I haven't played for years. Last game I played was the tail end of 5th edition. I thought maybe this is a good way to start playing again. I just want to play for fun. I don't care if I loose or win. I never won a 40K game yet when I did play. Thing is I don't want to play in futility like I did in 5th edition.

I was a Dark Angel and Nid player. Since there is no Dark Angel starter set, I am not sure if I want Tyranids. Thing is, I already have the minis and not sure if I want to buy it again. Was thinking maybe Orks? Not sure how they would play. Would Orks be a viable choice in this 40K Starter league? I think someone told me they would be just shot off the table, and to me that doesn't sound like fun at all.

In this league you can only use the minis in the box and make a 400 point army out of it. You can't add nothing else to it, but only the contents in the box and what is in the codex. I don't know nothing about Orks, so what can I make out of this box?

What about Nids? If I did Nids, I would do something I never done before, and make them all flying. Would that be too cheesy? I don't want something too powerful and I don't want something too weak either. How will they play? Not sure if I would be interested in Necrons or Tau, too shooty for my tastes. Thing is, the while I don't want shooty, the Skitarii look nice to me. The red robes appeal to me. So how do they play?
