Flying Assault Marine Conversion?

Hi all,
What's a good way to model an assault marine in mid-air at some point in a jump? Having them jog ferociously into combat seems a bit boring so I'd like for them to look more dynamic. I've heard things about pinning the model to the base and sticking clump foliage to the wire and painting it so it looks a bit like a smoke plume of some sort.

The plumes of exhaust is one way.

Being attached to terrain is another. Elevated rubble that the mini is “brushing” but actually supports him.

Weapon support. Give him a spear, stuck into the torso of a victim. I’ve seen this done more with things that shoot. Necron flyers held up with (clear plastic rod) death beams, or heldrakes via baleflamer breath (done like exhaust)

Clear plastic flight stands.

I stick my Sanguinary Guard up on thin metal rods. The rods look a bit derp if you really look at them, but I prefer them to clear plastic rods and they look great on the tabletop.

But the exhaust plumes and raised terrain are all very valid methods of suspension.

Metal wire seems a bit more viable because it's malleable but clear rods might look better. Not really sure about which option to take though.
