Starting Wolves, which second Codex to get?

Like the title says, I am starting a Space Wolf army soon. I'm starting out with the Codex (obviously) and the Start Collecting box that I plan to buy soon. Should I get Champions of Fenris or the new Wulfen book next? Or neither? Back when I played there wasn't this many supplements that you needed to get, maybe just a Codex and one slim additional book, so this is all a bit overwhelming to me right now with a myriad of books.

I recall that the Space Wolves Codex: Wulfen Edition includes all the stuff from the Wulfen book. I might be mistaken about the "all" part though, might want to check on that.

I'd say that is your best bet, as it includes the normal rules in addition to the new formations. Almost everything you can have.

Starting Wolves, which second Codex to get?

If you're getting something digital, why not get it all? You don't need a single physical book to play 40k. Digital is just as allowed by GW, or else they wouldn't sell them. No need to clutter the table with outdated books and more importantly, no need to waste money buying the old version AND the new version.

But Champions of Fenris is a very good alternate way of building a Wolf army. For most people I've encountered, it's the 'only' way to build Space Wolves.

Mostly it's a matter of how the DRM is on it, since my tablet is an old iPad Mini and I'm replacing it sometime, but not sure when. Also there's nothing quite like the feel of a physical book, but I get the point

Re:Starting Wolves, which second Codex to get?

Yep, I also like physical books way more. Now only if they had an automatic search function aswell.

But yeah I wouldn't be worried, get them in the available format that best suits you. I'd say the Codex and the Wulfen book/edition will get you far. They are also one of the most competitive codices around currently in certain builds, and the Start Collecting! -formation can also be really powerful with a Wulfen Murderpack. If I do not remember wrong, they get to move twice.

Starting Wolves, which second Codex to get?

Champions of fenris gives you some really good formations (brethren of the fell handed, arjacs shieldbrothers etc.) and allows you to run a very scary close combat/challenge/steel wall army that can be elite, or not elite. (You benefit more from elite) You also get sweet relics.

Curse of the Wulfen offers flavourful but restricting great companies to represent all of the ones in the SW fluff. It also has rules for the new OP wulfen. You can probably make your own decision now. For the allfather and Russ!
