Painting Dark Angels slightly brighter Green

Hey there!

I have 2 tac squads and 2 scout squads to paint on my desk and I need some help with the colors.
I primed everything black and then started painting the green parts with caliban green.

My problem is: thats just way to dark for my taste. I cant even distinguish between black and this dark dark green from afar.
I also have warpstone glow and moot green on my table from painting my Knights tabards, but both colors are too bright and only work as highlights.

I was thinking about taking Waaagh! Flesh as a basecolor, but dont want to waste my money on another shade of green if I dont need it ;-)

How are you guys painting your Dark Angels?
Is the green shade any good for that matter? I was planning to use black ink in only the recesses.

If one of you has both colors, could you paint them on a little piece of sprue for me so I can see the difference?
I already messed up 3 of my scouts and dont want to experiment any further ;.-/

EDIT: maybe vallejo has an appropriate shade of green?

I've had a similar problem after the old, old Citadel paint range formula was changed years back.

Coat d'Arms was who manufactured the paint for GW and they still produce the same colors. I prefer Dark Green, but there are other various shades as well. Top quality in my experience, too.

http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?category=accessories~paints-%252d-coat-d%27arms

They have distribution on both sides of the pond.

Painting Dark Angels slightly brighter Green

I decided to paint my DA as follows and it is the perfect color for me:

Basecoat black.
Basecoat all green areas Castellan Green
Shade with nuln oil
Basecoat again with 1:1 mix of Castellan Green and Caliban Green
Edgehighlight with Warpstone Glow.

This results in a fairly dark but still vibrant Colorscheme. At the same time the colors are quite mute to give them that military feel.

Love it!

Can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDPWYLvlcsA

Dark Angles have a badass color theme.

You have a fair painting plan. I would avoid mop-washing all the armor though to save tons of time. Just wash the recesses and wet-blend in Caliban Green.

The cream colored purity seals, white decals, and red accents is what makes DA really pop on the tabletop! Consider a sandy colored desert base for extra visual pop!

Try to paint an one test model 100% through the process before you breakout and paint 20 infantry.
