Static grass sticking to miniatures

I have some miniatures that I wanted to repaint over. Static grass has been applied to the base and some of it has come loose. This is causing problems as it is sticking to the miniatures and is relatively hard to remove (i.e., even if I blow on the miniature hard it keeps sticking/moves to another part of the miniature).

I was wondering whether anyone had any ideas about this? Could vacuuming the miniatures work (in that it would suck up the loose grass) – just concerned that this may also loosen other grass off the base (don’t know whether the current loose grass was ever properly stuck on or may have just been adhering to the miniature all this time since it was first applied).

I would simply remove the minis from their bases and strip the whole thing and start over.

If you want to just paint in extra detail and not start again, I'd still recommend removing the mini and shake off the excess grass from the base, which should alleviate your problem going forward.

Its likely the static grass that is coming off wasn't stuck on in the first place, some sort of low powered vacuum would do the trick
