				<title>Need help as Eldar vs Adeptus Mechanicus (War Convo and 30k)</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ So, a friend of mine plays admech either as the War Convocation or 30k. I do not exaggerate when I say he has gone unbeaten since he started playing this.<br /> <br /> As our clubs resident terrible Eldar player, I have especially struggled against this list. Everything I have tried has been countered.  If I try to out shoot him, he invokes shroud psalm.  And I don't even know how I would get into close combat that isn't on his terms.  Everything on his list feels too dangerous to not deal with but I can't get close enough to make sure things die without suffering a heavy toll.<br /> <br /> I recognise that there's probably a lot of failing on my part in regards to army comp and tactics, but it is not fun to break myself against his list time after time, so I am here now to look for advice and tactics before I throw in the towel and just not play him again.<br /> <br /> So, what do you all take against admech? What tactics, units and formations do you all use? I want to hear it all.]]></description>

				<title>Need help as Eldar vs Adeptus Mechanicus (War Convo and 30k)</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I'm not sure how best to describe his list. I remember the jist of what he runs.  He normally has Pathfinders, Dunestalkers, the guys with the rad carbines which he normally upgrades with the arc rifles. Dragoons with the tesla lances, 2 units of 3 destroyers or breachers depending on what he's facing, 2 onigers again modified depending on if he needs intercept or not, a unit of the 60s Sci fi punch robots who's name I can't remember and a Knight Titan, usually a Paladin.  He has something that can deep strike I can't remember what they are.<br /> <br /> My list varies because I'm struggling to find something effective.  The most luck I've had was with a list that had a lot of scatter lasers and the first turn, but I struggled against the heavily armoured things and didn't have enough strength 8+.  Once he got shroudpsalm up my shooting was dented and every scatter laser lost dented it even more.  <br /> <br /> I've got a large selection of Eldar and we're ok with model rep at the club so I can use almost anything. I'm limited with allies though unless I go out and buy things. I've got some Harlequins or Space Wolves.<br /> <br /> Game wise it's normally maelstrom of war, although last night we tried a world of darkness mission.<br /> <br /> I'm not sure what else to add. I'm not really tournament minded so honestly I have no idea about the meta. I have an idea on what is effective and what isn't, just not against this list. At times it feels like he has an answer to everything I do.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Eldar cheese having trouble with admech.... I'm sorry if I don't shed a tear on that one. <br /> <br /> On topic and cause I like tatical discussion, eldar can easily deal with admech. <br /> <br /> Wraith host is a good start. Fearless, good toughness, awsome guns, battle focus ....  I've run wraithhost in other games, allied with <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>DE</span> and harlequins. Generally in 2k I've got the wraithhost formation (2x 5 wraithgaurd with whatever, 1 unit of blades, spirit seer, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(227);'>WL</span> with Glaive and 2x lance, 1 flamer, and knight with twin scatters and a pair of d cannons. I ally in a few <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>DE</span> raiders to drive the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(225);'>WG</span> forward, (they die but usually once I've gotten upfield), an archon with portal (goes with a unit of gaurd + seer) and some fighters for air support. A heroes path harlequin unit rounds it out. The harlequins are there for pure havoc / distraction. With infiltrate, stealth, shrouded and invun saves they can take a beating. And ignored they can do a lot of harm. (The shadow seer with psychic shriek is a favorite) <br /> <br /> All told it's not an "optimized" list - you could probally do better with seer council+scatbike spam ... All that <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>str</span> 6 shooting and battle focus makes for a tough force. Or just blow all mozzarella to the wind and triple up the wraith Knights. <br /> <br /> I tend to favor the admech and love to see silly eldar get beaten down. (Although I admit I love the wraith units models - only reason I built that formation) But I've never beaten a scatbike or 3 wk list, and everyone here holds them as top tier beside tau. <br /> <br /> You should be dominating. Maybe expirence is the issue. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I'll not pretend that it's a blow to hear the issue is most likely with me, but it's probably what I need to hear.  Saying that I've been playing Eldar for years, albeit very casually so it's possible I've picked up some very bad habits.  We're a rather casual club, we don't really follow any sort of competitive meta, which could be why we're all struggling against admech.<br /> <br /> I like the idea of the Wraith list.  I've got enough Wraith to pull it off, but I don't have Dark Eldar so that's out of the question, can you substitute raiders with Wave Serpents?<br /> <br /> Scatterbike spam is something I could do more easily (as disgusting as it is) although I assume the Seer council is also on jetbikes, which is an issue as I don't have that many bikes to model rep.<br /> <br /> I think though what I need is a general idea of tactics against Admech.  All this is well and good and I appreciate it but the issue remains that I can still see myself getting blasted off the face of the earth before I get anywhere near him.<br /> <br /> ]]></description>

He used a reserve heavy army with an Autarch to manipulate reserves and made him waste his shrouding. I've never played them so I can't be much help, but it seemed quite potent!]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ The idea for the list I've used - <br /> 1: core army is high toughness and packs heavy hitting weapons. <br /> 2: fast transports get you to the enemy quick, and at full strength. Move as fast as possible 1st turn. Don't even shoot with the transports. If they die - that's fine. Your guys inside don't care either way, and after the 6" disembark they are ready to unload<br /> 3: the archon and friends is your "I need that to die now unit" drop it beside the other guys key or scariest unit and unload the D. <br /> 4: harlequins are the double edge sword. If the other guy ignores them.... The solitaire can literally tear things up. He's a speedy dervish of death. (I've had one solo down a riptide in 1 round) the shadow seer rolling on telepathy is awsome. Take psychic shriek and invisibility if you can. Shriek is totally capable of making a unit just vanish. The death jester is there to screw up the other guys movements. He won't kill much - but if he gets just 1 guy they take a check at -2 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(82);'>ld</span> then when failed YOU chose the direction of retreat. Those 3 characters can not be ignored. And they can take a serious amount of fire and still party. I've had TAU unload an entire army's worth of shooting inc marker lights at my solitaire and he just laughed at it all with his 3++. The shadow seer made 2 riptides and 2 firewarriors squads die and or run off the table in a single game. If you don't have <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>DE</span> stuff (get an archon at least) wave serps work as long as you can carry the 5 man wraith units. I like the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>DE</span> cause of open topped means I can ferry my wraith blades up and if the vehicle lives, charge after disembarking. (Don't archon in the blades. They stand around doing nothing - bring in a unit with d cannons and D blast the DJebus outa something. That unit is usually archon+spirit seer + d cannon <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(225);'>WG</span>. That way your seer gets into middle of enemy and gives all other wraith host units rerolls to hit) <br /> <br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ It's a short range on reveal.  Well, 18" I'm sure.  You have to make sure whatever you use it on dies and there's going to be a lot of return fire.<br /> <br /> I was thinking of trying the Harlequins as an allied detachment.  I've got a Shadowseer and the Solitaire and certainly enough of a Troupe to make a unit of 10 or a couple of smaller units.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I don't play Eldar, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a seer council run roughshod over Warconvo? Jetbikes give you mobility, fortune makes you unkillable, Shriek/Mind War/Eldrich Storm should do a number on almost everything, especially when combined with Horrify (from either fate or telepathy or both) and don't they get fleshbane on their melee weapons at I5? Add Baharoth for hit and run trolling.<br /> <br /> As mentioned above, the reveal half of the battle primaris neatly removes shrouded and stealth, so there's that option to focus down something the turn he uses shroudpsalm.<br /> <br /> Warp spiders should do a number on them too since they wound off <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(74);'>init</span> and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(70);'>IIRC</span>, Skitari and admech should all be getting wounded on 2's and skitari wouldn't be getting <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(265);'>FNP</span>.<br /> <br /> Fragons should be able to deal with the knight, drive up wave serpent (or deep strike in with the falcon formation for style points), disembark, he declares shield facing, you battlefocus into alternate facing, hit with 5/6 because BS5, pen with 4/5 and get at least 1 explodes because AP0. Try not to die in the explosion.<br /> <br /> Or just give in to the inner cheesemonger and take a min windrider host and 5 wraithknights and be that guy.]]></description>

				<title>Need help as Eldar vs Adeptus Mechanicus (War Convo and 30k)</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I'm going to sound really ignorant here but there's a lot of assumption that you can get whatever power you need.  Have I missed some sort of rule, barring rolling a double, that lets you pick whatever power you want?<br /> <br /> I need to be honest.  My dice rolling is terrible.  I know people say luck of the draw and whatnot but mine are so consistently bad that my club now jokes about it.  I will admit it doesn't do much for the ol' self confidence and it leads me to shy away from single shot weapons as you have never met anyone who can consistently fail to hit or penetrate with lance weapons.  So while I like the idea of the Wraith list, I can see me failing critical shots or just watching them crash in the midfield to failed saves.<br /> <br /> What is clear though, from reading this and other threads, is that I've allowed myself to fall into some complacent misunderstanding of Eldar and how they play.  If anyone could direct me to some 7th ed guides I'd really appreciate it as I feel there's a lot I'm just not doing.]]></description>
