Inquisition

So I have been switching ethers armies lately and have decided to keep my Tau and start an army of Inquisition, but I don't know where to start or what my army should consist of.Hence the reason I'm on here asking for help as to getting to know what I will need and what I will need to do and how much I will need to spend, because I'm thirteen and am on a budget, I was also wondering if there were any knight Titan like models for the inquisition, because I plan on using Imperial knights in the list to be competitive with the local Knights. Thanks for all help given!

Get Coteaz. Then take 3 man fire warrior squads as warrior henchmen. As many unbound as you want. and at 12 points a scoring unit, you could drown even knights in targets.

Inquisition

Whut!? Sorry but that is not how you play inquisition at all. Ignore carls post.

Where to start Step one:
Get the 7th version of the codex inquisition and read it. It is digital only but I am sure that you can find it You will really need it. This army has tons of special rules you need to know in order to build this army who are not in battle scribe.

Step two: Get battle scribe. The inquisition army requires is highly customizable this is fun but also results in you doing a lot of calculations unless you use a list building tool.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Now you can start building your army. This is kinda unusual in an inquisition force. Since you don't have simple pre-made units you have highly customizable henchmen squads these can do almost anything you want them to do really but you need to design them with care. The best way to do this is to think of a battlefield role for each squad and equip them for it.
It helps if you read up some tactics on them -> This is a start https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000/Tactics/Inquisition%287E%29

Models.
GW has an inquisition model range but they are good looking quite expensive, resin and have a limited amount of variation. The best way to get your force together is to convert them or just to mix up some parts from one kit with an other kit to give them the feel that you like them to have. There are tons of good internet sources that can help you with this. just search for inquisition henchmen conversions and don't be afraid to mix up AoS model parts with 40k model parts usually it looks great.

On titans inquisition does not have Titans (except some FW ones)
But you can ally them in like any other army. So if you want you can have as many knight titan in your army as you want.

On fliers. Inquisition does have some flier options. But you can ally in any imperial flier with the new flyer detachment in the death from the skies book.

Notice a theme here if you really want something an other imperial has you can just ally it in if you find a good detachment / formation for it somewhere in the rules.

Have fun building your army : )

Inquisition

There's no titan-esque Inquisition models.

However, the Inquisition theoretically has access to the entire Imperium's arsenal; more than any other army, an army with an Inquisitor as its warlord justifies taking detachments from multiple armies of the Imperium.

Militarum Tempestus or Astra Militarum is very characterful, but ultimately take whatever feels cool.

A 'normal' knight detachment - either Freeblades or an inducted Imperial House is perfectly likely. Bolt on an Oathsworn detachment and go to town.

Assassins are very likely as well.

What I'd start with is buying/converting an Inquisitor. Decide who and what he is (Malleus/Xenos/Hereticus, Puritan/Radical) and go from there.

Competetiveness-wise, you can't go far wrong with at least one henchman mob. Inquisitorial henchmen make up cheap scoring units (3 x acolytes with bolters, as above) or else a badass assault unit (2 x preachers, and a 50/50 mix of death cultists and crusaders in a land raider of some kind).

Inquisition

If you want the full inquisition experience, I would recommend also picking up the Grey Knight Codex, the Sisters of Battle Codex, and the Militarium Tempestus Codex. All three use to be inquisition units when it was still "Codex Daemon/Witch hunters" and each will fill out a hole in your battlelines. Grey Knights in particular are useful because their Nemesis Strikeforce Detachment is almost as bare bones as the Inquisition FoC, so fielding both together even in low point games is viable.

I really like to use rather medieval looking inquisitors like Hildegard, but I also have like 3 or 4 with Conversion Beamers (Long Ranged Awesomeness incarnate) and some in Terminator Armor
Acolythe Henchmen (use Guardsmen or Tempestus, but the later are MUCH more expensive) - you'll run Special Weapons in groups of three, and you can bring entire 10-12 man squads with everyone having a Boltgun for 1pt - very cost efficient.
Servitors with Plasma Cannons - get the regular Servitors and find some Plasma Cannon bits elsewhere. I used FWs older Legion Plasma Cannons, they look real nice on a servitor.
Chimeras - they're the cheapest transport option for your henchmen squads. Keep in mind they're the old style Chimeras where 5(!) guys can shoot out of.
Psykers - I'm using plain old Wyrdvane Psykers for this. Every one of your Henchmen squads should bring 1 psyker - they're the cheapest source of Warp Charges I know of.

If you want something for melee , you'll need Crusaders, Death Cult Assassins and Ministorum Priests - and a Land Raider to get them where they can actually charge something.
Crusaders - anything with a Sword & Board loadout should work. Death Cult Assassins are just ninjas/assassins with two blades. I'm using Warmachine models for both the Crusaders and the DCAs as they're much cheaper, but there's probably a ton of other options out there.

To flesh out your army - and provide some long-range and anti-tank options: You need monkeys. They're called Jokaero and are either the most idiotic part of the codex or the most awesome one, you decide. But they're really useful with their LasCannon/MultiMelta/HvyFlamer multiweapon.
Another great addition are Valkyries and Vendettas, especially if you refuse to use monkeys.

And - of course - all the other fun units like Flagellants or Daemonhosts can be added on, but they're not that essential. You should rather start looking into what kind of ally you want to use. On the table you'll really notice how important Objective Secure is - you simply don't have it. So an ally with decent Troop choices is ideal, Imperial Guard and Space Marines work great for that and are still fluffy choices (Guardsmen get drafted by Inquisitors all the time, and the Deathwatch is a permanent part of the Inquisition).

Inquisition

I normally run coteaz in a firebase of jokearo, servitors and acolytes. They camp in the middle and target armour with the help of a vinidicare assassin. Then a few bare bones acolytes running around in a chimera or rhino (depending on points) claiming objectives. Stormraven deposits a unit of death cults and flagellants at the rear, which then tries to carve it's way across the back line. An inquisitor with hammerhand helps with this, but no guarantee of getting it. Any points left over go into 3 man acolyte squads with melta guns and a pskyer, who go on suicide missions. Fun to play, with a decent win ratio.

They aren't a great choice for an army on a budget though, unless you are a good converter with a substantial bits box. Flagellants make good acolytes. You can make death cults out of witchelves, but that is still a £35 squad. If you happen to have an ad mech army, you'll have a million spares to make servitors, and possibly arco flagellants (a green stuff cable/tentacle maker is helpful for them) Jokearo you can make from crypt ghouls if you have some sculpting skills. The absence of the bretonnia range makes crusaders a bit tricky.

Skitarii and tempestus scions are good kits to use as well, but they won't offer any kind of saving. Have fun if you decide to do it, and most importantly post pictures!
