Monitor Issues

I have this problem with my monitor. It is connected to my ASUS X540L laptop.

Monitor Specs:
HP w1858
VGA connection
LCD screen
Resolution 1366x768

Usually, when I use the monitor, I plug it into my PC via VGA port and use the monitor as the main display. However, there are times when part of the desktop or window is not on the monitor, however, the laptop screen is fine. Auto adjusting does not help.

Can anyone help me fix this?
