Basecoating a Rhino with Spray Paint

I have a rattle can of blue spray paint from Rustoleum. It's the 2x cover kind. I am considering using it to basecoat my Rhino. However, it's lighter than the Macragge Blue I normally use.
Are there any precautions I should take before using it? Any advice on this? Note: I am a poor boy, and I do not have an airbrush.

You can spray paint it, then give it a light coat with your usual brush-on paint When doing the latter, use a big, flat brush, and keep your paint quite thin.

FYI with that Rusto x2, its hard to get the paint into small crevices. Also be careful not to overspray, that paint loves to covers as much surface as possible.

Basecoating a Rhino with Spray Paint

I don't know if it's this horrible Texas weather, but I use Rusto 2X to prime and it LOVES to rub off. Really nice flat coloring, but Snoopdeville is correct, I think I've done the perfect prime job, check all the crevices and everything only to find in the inside light that entire surfaces that were directly exposed to spray are totally naked.

Basecoating a Rhino with Spray Paint

I use the Rusto 2X primer and it works pretty well for me AFTER I get it sealed.

Crevices can be a pain, but if you do a few light coats and examine between them you can do pretty good.

Oh, one thing to consider: Have you done any vehicles yet? My Sisters of battle army, the Sisters are in white/grey armor and the transports are black, I think it works well and allows me to spray the tanks a easy to get and match black color. I am not saying go black, but your guys and their rides don't have to be the same color, they just have to coordinate.
