Some friends and I began playing 40k at the start of the year, with the aim of increasing our points by 250 each month. We're at our 1500 point game, and I'm after some advice on the list I've made as I've no experience at this points level and its when things seem to start getting real.

For some scene setting, one of our players (CSM) spams forgefiends and other chaos armour out the wazoo (those Hades autocannons seem to basically invalidate me taking troops), but I'm wondering if I've gone too AT heavy in the following list? Another player is a Guard player who also loves his tanks, and the potential 4th is a tau player who spams battlesuits.

That's 1500 bang on the dot. I'm wondering whether I'd be better off ditching the Kastelans and changing the CM portion into a Holy Requisitioner formation, and using the remaining 300 points to bulk out my skitarii section, or squeeze in a Raptor wing or something else with AV13 or a 3 or 2+ save? (I have a fair bit of Iron hands SM stuff [start slowly, it'll be cheap, it'll be fun, have a laugh...6 dreadnoughts, 4 tanks, 2 stormtalons and a stormraven later...]).

How much of that is built so what units can we recommend changing?

Unless your meta is full of Imperial Knights, Kastelans should have all phosphor.

Your Vanguard don't have any special weapons?

My reasoning behind taking the breachers was to have something more effective vs av14. Are the grav better for this purpose? I've only uses the grav once before but got matched up against daemons.

I took Arc rifles on my vanguard in my last game but the forgefiends just chewed them up before I could get any real use out of them.

I was going to run the onager individually, yep. The 4+ hasn't been worth it when I've tried them as a squad

I've got (built unless specified) ...
20 vanguard
10 rangers
3x plasma, 3x Arc rifle

5 infiltrators
5 unbuilt sicarian (were going to be rusties)
1 dragoon (looking to get 2 more)

3 onager with all weapon options

Cm I have...
6 destroyers (3 plasma 3 grav, interchangeable)
2 tech priests
1 built kastelan maniple, 2 unbuilt, also have 2 castellax

1 knight crusader
