I bought into the Horus Heresy series... and now with book 38 coming out and about a thousand short stories, limited edition novellas and misc other items, there is no end in sight. I didn't sign on for a neverending series, and yet that appears to be what I got.

If the Beast Arises is legitimately a 12 book series, I'll buy and read it. Also, the last wall attracted me the most due to the meganob on the cover, and I read the description which describes billions of terran civilians traveling in private ships to 'bring the fight to the enemy'.

I don't know the context, but sending billions of terran civilians (generally upper-crust people with zero combat experience) to combat an ork death star sounds like just about the worst plan ever.

It would be like trying to fight a wolfpack by throwing steaks at them.

Was a cool concept but bad execution. Without spoiling the important stuff, it actaully goes even worse than you expect and with a neat orkishly appropriate twist.

Eldrad was buddies with the Emperor back in the day, so he sends a Harliquin troop to Terra to give a message of help to the high lords via a web portal. Goes about as well as you would expect.

Made it till the last part of throneworld.I did enjoy most of it especially the politics, the new ork stuff and the eldar parts. I even enjoyed most of the space marine stuff. But some of the battles and the space marine cliché parts are just too boring.

It seems a cool idea and its great to see stuff for earlier periods

Interested to see what the Vulkan story works out like.

Book 1 was slightly boring, but book 3 is my favorite so far.
Give the series a try, it has interesting characters. I admit that I do speed-read through a lot of the battles and a few other boring parts that are side stories, but the main parts are great.

The bit about the citizens of Terra bringing the fight to the orks is very heavily addressed by a main character of the series. He completely disagrees with it and calls it madness.

Predator, Prey paints a very grimdark depiction of the Orks along with a unique ocean covered world, While Throneworld had a ton of great character moments and the action was very fun to follow.

I also deeply hope we haven't seen the last of that Shadowseer for this series, as her scenes with Vangorich and the Inquisition were some of the most intense writing from BL. There's a bit line in book number 6 that implies she's still a thing, so fingers crossed.
