[1500] - Alaitoc-Themed Eldar - Filthy Casual List

Got a few friends into the hobby (they're playing nids and tau) and finally got a codex and the rulesbook so I can start playing again.

This is my first list in a long while, and I don't really want to be playing to just win every time (however I don't necessarily want to get roflstomped every time either), so I tried to not put anything cheesy in my list. However where I haven't played in a while I feel like I may have included some redundant units/upgrades, so let me know what you think.

HQ

Illic Nightspear - 140 pts

Troops

15 Guardians - Warlock, Shuriken Cannon - 185 pts

10 Guardians - Warlock, Bright Lance - 145 pts

10 Rangers - 120 pts

5 Rangers - 60 pts

Elites

10 Striking Scorpions - Exarch w/ Scorpion Claw
Dedicated Transport - Waveserpent w/ TL Eldar Missle Launchers and Holofields - 350 pts together

Fast Attack

10 Warpsiders - Exarch w/ twinlinked death spinners - 205 pts

Heavy Support

3 War Walkers - All w/ Eldar Missle Lauchers, Bright Lances and Star Engines - 285 pts

Army Total - 1490 pts

Now I shall explain myself

I'm taking Illic for the theme and to oneshot markerlights/synapse creatures with whatever ranger unit I put him in (more than like the 10 man unit).

The Guardians will form my front line, sit in cover on an objective (with conceal from the warlock probably), and dakka down anything that gets close. (I used 15 guardians because the extra 5 were to fill points and provide extra chances to roll 6's on bladestorm. Also I get to include a couple of the cool guardian models from the 90's my dad left to me)

10 man rangers will support the front line.

5 man rangers will sit on an objective or flank where I expect deepstrike/infiltrate/distraction carnifex shenanigans.

Striking Scorpions will either come in on a flank next to artillery/character units and mess them up, or infiltrate and create a "I don't wanna walk near there" zone. Waveserpent is there to create a safety zone for the unit and dish out pie plates

Warpspiders will go after large infantry units or just keep the enemy busy and distracted while I get scorpions into assault range or battle focus my guardians in and out for a blade storm attack.

The Warwalkers will provide their heavy firepower where its needed and probably try to be an anti-everything roaming threat.

Plans for a higher point army

I'm thinking about putting in an allied detachment of of Dark Eldar battlebrothers for 1750 and 2000 pt games. From what I learned playing them in previous editions, an archon with incubi in a venom or raider is a great assassin unit. Also ravagers and warriors in transports are fun, so I'll probably do something like that to take the fight to the enemy while my rangers move into position.

Let me know what you think, thanks!

To go with your theme

Illic 145
Farseer 100
***Autarch w Long Rifle 95

HQs 340=245

3 x 10 Guardians w Warlock and heavy of your choice 375
1 x Vauls Battery w Warlock 65
1 x Vyper w Brightlance 50
3 x Walkers w 2 EML 270````

Guardians 760

10 Rangers 120
5 Rangers 60

Aspect host +1 WS
3x 5 Scorpions w Exarch and Bitng Blade 300 `

You can outflank with the scorpions and Walkers. The farseer is great for the rangers as a doom is awesome on a pathfinder-ranger target as is a reveal. I would prefer Scorpions Claws on the Exarch but costs too much; I lost the starengines and BL for a 2nd EML on the walkers. This means they can stand off more and also provide you adequate anti=air.

I left the autarch as he will really buff your reserve rolls and the long rifle just fits your fluff but you cant afford him.

To expand your list to1850 I would think the autarch, Claws for you scorpions, perhaps a shooty aspect host say 1 or 2 Dire Avengers and 1 Warp spider. You could also expand your Vauls battery or switch them out for D Cannons or even Vibrocannons instead of Doomweavers.

I think this is a great list and kudos for not falling into the Eldar idiot crutch of spamming scat bikes. Yours is not OP in the least but it is a thinking mans army.``````````````````````````````

My friends are talking about nidzilla and suit tau. How well would the D weapons do over the dragons?

I would consider 2 units of 5 Spiders instead of one big one.

I like the list overall though.

Ty. Also would you reccomend the 2 squads to be kitted similarly or 1 as assualt and 1 as shooty?

Just go 2 Wraithknights and spam scat bikes man.
As your second aspect host is going to be shooty with +1 BS I would go shooty with nidsilla I might give them the spinnerette rifle. Also you could lose 1 scorpion squad and add the CC oriented warp spider. BTW the reason I recommend the Dire Avengers is they are cheap and backup your guardians well.

Fire Dragons are OK but without transport they are more of a last ditch defense for your guardians. I would rather a min squad of Dark Reapers with an EML or Tempest on the Exarch.

D weapns are sadly short ranged so I would rather go spinners or vibrocannons (with a guide)..
