Henley Women's Regatta starts on Friday 17th

http://www.hwr.org.uk/

Friday is time trials to finalise the draw for the main competition that begins on Saturday. This year about 470 crews have entered. Racing is 1,500 metres upstream on the Henley Reach, heats of two boats, starting at Temple Island (see pic.)

International crews are already in town to practice on the course and get rid of their jet lag. They are the best from each country but it will be tough as the UK has the majority of the world's rowing talent and Henley is the national hub of the sport. However I'm happy to support the foreigners unless they race against one of my own clubs.

The atmosphere is much more relaxed than Henley Royal Regatta, making it a fun outing where you don't have to shove through crowds of drunk Hooray Henrys and Henriettas in formal clothing.

The weather is looking fairly bad, unfortunately. With luck we may see some sun and I am sure there will be great racing!
