[2500] - Salamanders - Competitive (inc. hammernators)

Classic Salamander Pod list with a twist (hey that rhymes). P much everyone is making use of bonuses from CT, the detatchment (edit: less so now as they're in a gladius not a flameblade), or Vulkan. Plenty of obsec; bikes and LSS provide maneuverability too - something which generally lacks in a Pod list. Shen, Vulkan and the Chaplain join the termis in the LR for a nice 2+/3++/4+++ mini star.

I'm mostly worried about the LR being shot up T1, making it useless, but I need a delivery system that can account for Shen (and Vulkan) which that rules out DS. I could just hold the LR back in reserve. Was also thinking of dropping the LSSs to take the Talons as a Raptor Wing, but I like the mobile obsec provided by them.

Thoughts?

Salamanders (2500)
Gladius SF (1945)
DBC
• Chaplain - TDA (120)
• 5 Tac - flamer, DP (75)
• 5 Tac - flamer, DP (75)
• 5 Tac - flamer, DP (75)
• Attack Bike - MM (50)
• 5 Dev - 4 MM, DP (110)

DBC
• Vulcan (190)
• 5 Tac - flamer, DP (75)
• 5 Tac - flamer, DP (75)
• 5 Tac - flamer, DP (75)
• Attack Bike - MM (50)
• 5 Dev - 4 MM, DP (110)

1st Co.
[2500] - Salamanders - Competitive (inc. hammernators)

Okay, had a look over your list; seems quite solid.
Also fluffy as all hell in the flamers and meltas everywhere.

My only real concern would be that LR getting shot up too early in the game, so deployment will be key. ObjSec Free Pods seems like a valid challenge to maelstrom missions, and the high quantity of melta should reduce armoured targets down to size. Hordes would be a weakness due to your relatively low model count, but flamers everywhere compensate for that nicely.

I support the dual Stormtalons, and I guess the more versatile skyhammer missiles aren't necessary when you have that much master-crafted melta; allowing the fliers to pick on ground targets. Their inclusion certainly compensates for the lack of mobility in pod lists. Never leave home without a pair of 'Talons, they always seem to kill their points back. This mobility is also nicely supplemented by the Landspeeder Strom Scout Squads, for some faster moving ObjSec.

Who or what is Shen? Uninitiated so can't comment.

One note as to the Efficiency of your 1st Company Strikeforce. specifically, utilising the terrifying proficiency rule. RAW a combat squaded Sternguard unit and dedicated drop pod qualifies as all 3 units required to cause FEAR; which almost guarantees units will fall back away from objectives. just something to bear in mind, it's always fun to force your opponent into a less optimal positioning on the board.

...Finally: a Crusader? Really man? You're Salamanders! Flamestorm Cannons are the most Salamanders weapon ever! Get a Redeemer, and redeem yourself....

All I got for you Bro,
GamerGuy

[2500] - Salamanders - Competitive (inc. hammernators)

Okay so Shen is a FW character. He's a salamanders apothecary IC who has artificer armour, 2W, and gives the whole unit 4+ FNP. He can also reroll his look out sirs which is nice, and gives the unit he's in +1 to assault results. All round he makes the terminator unit much more effective.

Now originally I had planned on taking a redeemer but with the three ICs joining the hammernators I need the extra transport capacity. Plus without CT, the flamstorm cannons don't benefit from rerolls, and S6-7 is a noteworthy jump (no ID on T4 or anything like that). Like you said though... I am worried about it getting shot to pieces early on.

Thanks for the comments!

Edit: on the 1st company strike force, I chose two min squads rather than one combatted as the formation requires a minimum of 3 units (in this case 2 SG and one terminator). Plus the additional pod gives me a bit more flexibility.
