I'll be playing against a CSM player who I know is bringing a knight (the melee one) and at least 1 Heldrake. I've also seen him field Abaddon w/termies. C&C welcome. I'll be running the RG Pinion Battle Demi-Company and Bladewing. Plan to infiltrate scouts and deep strike Shrike, vanguard vets, and assault squads turn 1 against his ground forces while my heavier weapons focus on the knight. Here's what I have:

HQ: Shrike

Elite: Vanguard Vets x5 w/jump packs, 2x LC, 2x TH/SS, Sarge w/PW

Troops:
Scouts: 4x sniper rifles, 1x ML, camo cloaks, teleport homer
Scouts: 4x bolters, camo cloaks, teleport homer
Tac Squad: 6x Marines w/flamer in a Razorback w/TL LC
Tac Squad: 7x marines w/flamer
Tac Squad: 5x marines w/LC

Fast Attack:
Assault Squad: 10x marines, 2x flamer, sergeant w/PW
Assault squad: Same as first
Bike squad: 6x bikes, 2x w/melta, 1x attack bike w/MM

Heavy Support:
Devastators: 7x Marines w/4x ML w/flakk
Predator: TL LC, LC sponsons

I have the models here and this is a shot at a list. This is my first shot trying to build an army with formations. I think I posted it out of order as well. Do I need 2x Captains or Chaplains to make it or can they carry over? Do I need to break down the assault squads to meet the min requirements of each? Upon closer review, I don't think I can take the bikes or Preds. Shrike

3 x 5 man Tacs
1x 5 man Dev
1x 5 man Assault
2 x 5 man Scout
2 x 3 man Scout bikes (proxy your Bikes)

1x 5 man Vanguard Vets
3x 5 man Assault

The only thing you need is a jump pack captain or chaplain.
Sadly the Ravenguard don;t believe in armor so you can't field them outside of a CAD. But I would strongly urge you to read the rules on the Raven Guard and the formations and try it a few times. You will definitely want to get more flamers and plasma guns or heavy weapons for your tac squads but you have enough to get the feel for the formation. I think it is somewhat of a glass cannon space marine approach but it can be very powerful but I don't think it will be forgiving of mistakes. But as you develop your experience and find the style of the army you will grow into it. You will see the cool synergy of the other formations and if will guide you as you grow your raven guard. If you have a friend you can trade with lose the predators for whirlwinds or drop pods but wait until you are sure you want to develope a full blown Raven
guard.
