[1500] - Skitarii - General opinions on a infantry list that's meant to be a bit different

With my latest box of skiarii i just hit the 100 model point with their troops so as something a bit different thought i'd put together a list for friendly games, curious as to how people think it'll work and if it'd be something you'd like to play against (at least once for the novelty) or just annoying?

2 Skitarii maniples:

Skitarii Maniple

10 Vanguard - 100 pts

10 Vanguard - 100

10 Vanguard, 3 plasma calivers, omnispex, conversion field, phosphor blast pistol (Alpha is warlord) - 215

10 Vanguard, 3 plasma calivers, omnispex - 200

10 Vanguard, 3 plasma calivers, omnispex - 200

10 Vanguard, 3 arc rifles, omnispex - 145

10 Vanguard, 3 arc rifles, omnispex - 145

10 Rangers, 3 Transuranic Arquebas's, omnispex - 205

10 Rangers, 3 Transuranic Arquebas's, omnispex - 205

5 Rangers, 2 arc rifles - 95

I guess it's kinda like an IG blob but with decent basic& special weapons and that annoying 4+ with 6+ FNP. It's actually got an okay counter to everything except anti air ... although with that many shots something's going to hit!

While Vanguard spam is quite the dandy doodah indeed, they've only got 18" range on their carbines, and with that many guys, alot of them are going to have to force the others into close range in order to get their shots off.
And a problem with that is you've no-one to support almost guaranteed close combat.
That's going to happen, so you might aswell throw in some git that can make good use of the -1 Toughness, like a Dragoon. or two.

It wasn't really meant to be competitive, against quite a few general armies at that side i expect it'll do okay through sheer weight of numbers regardless.

I am going to try a vanguard/interceptor list when i have the interceptors painted, i think that could do surprisingly well competitively.
