Dark Eldar Colour Scheme

Hey all,
I'm pretty new to painting models but I've finally gotten fed up with an army of grey plastic so I decided to start painting them ... grey.
Any feedback on the technique or colour scheme would be great. I'm thinking that my final version will have a more orange red and a more teal blue.
Also what do you think about how to base this colour scheme?
Thanks.

Dark Eldar Colour Scheme

I like it! The colours work well together, the only thing I might suggest is glazing some washes or darker colours where shadows might be to give it more contrast, and bring out the panel lines.

As for the base, green would look good, maybe the traditional sand and flock. Or, as the scheme is quite cool, snow basing would work really well. Looking forward to seeing more.

Are you saying to put on more shade to create darker shadows?

Oh, I hadn't thought about snow! How would you recommend doing that?
Dark Eldar Colour Scheme

I like the scheme the Dark Eldar models suit just about everything but yours' is a great combo regardless. My only reservation is the details you've picked out in the lighter blue, mainly the Pauldrons and knee plates, i think either keep them the same colour as the rest of the carapace or pick one out of the 4 kneepads or pauldrons to get the special treatment in a special colour, maybe yellow?

Also i am not a fan of picking out the feet of a model in a special colour, (unless it's hooves or something) i think it always looks better if they are the same colour or very similar to the shins/legs. Always cringe at Space marines with adorable elf slippers or silver disco platforms.

I think the painting is good but perhaps when you are more confident in your skills you could attempt to add some contrast to the warsuit with an edge highlight and a darker shade where the plates overlap. It appears the red bodysuit has some shading so i don't think it's beyond you .

I like your thoughts on only having a knee or shoulder picked out. Should help to make the army look less rigidly structured.

I may well vary the boot colour to make each model look a bit different.

I'll give it a go on the next few models.

Dark Eldar Colour Scheme

I would second those suggestions. Darken the shade a bit more in the crevices.

Light agrax wash on the teal and orange, and a really light nuln oil on the grey.

I would also recommend that you random up the teal and orange. I find DE schemes best when they maintain the dull and drab primary with touches of the army color, and since they are so individualized as a culture you get to do some cool stuff.
