				<title>Valhallan rules?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I am currently starting a Valhallan addition for my Astra Militarum army. I was wondering though, do they have any old specific rules at all? For collectors purposes only. <br /> <br /> I found that their leader Chekov has a special rule, though I can't find where it would be mentioned. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ They have no special rules currently. In the 5th edition <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> codex their special character had rules, but he no longer exists. The 4th edition codex had "rules" for Valhallans but they were just a particular combination of the doctrines from the "build your own regiment" rules that <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span> suggested. Other than that they haven't had any special rules since at least before 4th edition, and possibly not ever.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ The doctrines from the 3.5 edition codex gave them:<br /> <br /> Heavy Weapon Squads<br /> Conscripts<br /> Veterans<br /> Priests<br /> Higher Leadership and Initiative<br /> Preferred Enemy: Orks <br /> <br /> Back in that edition, Doctrines took away certain units and you had to "buy it back" with your Doctrine allowance. In 5th Edition, Chenkov (the Valhallan Character) had a special rule that let you return a squad of Conscripts that were completely destroyed back to the field. <br /> <br /> It's still possible to emulate this style of play by fielding either masses of conscripts or a lot of Veteran Squads (apparently they had an abundance of both, I guess some Conscripts survived a few tours of duty?) and a good number of Commissars to keep leadership up. Strangely, despite the Close Order Drill, they didn't have Warrior Weapons (the doctrine that gave 2 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(20);'>CCWs</span> instead of a lasgun), so it was purely for the Leadership bonus. <br /> ]]></description>

When the various <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> metals were introduced in the mid-late 90's each regiment essentially offered only a special character or two to separate them.  That and when initially released each had a different special weapon/heavy weapon (though later, most <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> types received most options).<br /> <br /> And for the record "close order drill" actually refers to marching in a tight formation, and has nothing to do with close-combat.]]></description>

There is a lot of potential to give more of a unique "flare" to each regiment. That's not to say they need super fancy rules, but the old rules they had going on was not bad. They just get to do something a little different then the other guys makes total sense. Supposedly,  all come from different parts of the galaxy. Juat field each appropriately to deal with what they specialize in. Though, don't get me wrong, I like having my 30 Cadians, 56 Valhallans, and 35 (World War I) styled guardsmen.
