[750] - Eldar Craftworlds - Need help going up to 1000

This is my eldar list that I'm looking at putting together. I'm trying to be less competitive with this list so I'm not using bikes, spiders or a knight. What should I add to take it up to 1k points? Also what are your thoughts on this as it is?

CAD

HQ
- Prince Yriel - 140

Elites
- Wraithblades (5) - 275
-- Ghost Axes and Forceshields, Wave Serpent (Twin-Linked Bright Lance, Shuriken Cannon)

Troops
- Dire Avengers (5) - 95
-- Exarch (Diresword and Shuriken Pistol)
- Dire Avengers (5) - 95
-- Exarch (Diresword and Shuriken Pistol)

Heavy Support
- War Walker - 70
-- 2x Bright Lance
- War Walker - 70
-- 2x Bright Lance

---745

Yriel joins the wraithblades in their serpent. The dire avengers either walk up the table to get into shooting and possibly charge range, the war walkers hang back at max range hitting tanks and other big targets while grabbing backfield objectives.

How should I take this up to 1k points, and how does this list look as it is?

[750] - Eldar Craftworlds - Need help going up to 1000

It looks like a very non-cheesy Eldar list. Should do OK in a casual setting.

I’ve not use the prince before. You might be better off with just an autarch on foot.

I might have gone with the swords for the wraiths, for the extra attacks. Shields should make the unit a lot tougher though.

The DA are going to have a rough time of it. If you are going to walk them around in the open, the exarch should take the shimmershield.

Walkers with BLs should do a number on tanks.
--

There are a number of things you could do to boost your points. Two things you list looks like it is light on is mobility and anti-infantry firepower. The place to fix that is to boost your DA. Boosting them to full 10 man squads would give you a lot more shots in the air. Getting them transports would add mobility. Doing both is ideal, but not happening in 250 points unless you make some cuts.

Flacons are fun under-appreciated tanks. Great spot to stash a small squad to hop out and grab an objective (or shoot something up). Wave serpents, of course, are one of the best transports in the game.

I think as points go up, the fact that you have a very low model count is going to start to be an issue. What I might do is to temporarily cut one or both walkers to let you get full DA squads in WSs. (or a full in a serpent, and a 5/6 man one in a falcon). They are good units, and can be swapped back in later. But you need some more warm bodies on the table.

[750] - Eldar Craftworlds - Need help going up to 1000

What do you like painting? Where do you see this army at 1,500 points? 2,000? Do you have a theme you are trying to adhere to? At some point do you want to step up to a more competitive list? Do you want to leave the option of formations open, and build towards them eventually? What kind of budget are you on?

What I would do* would be to drop the walkers, boost both the DAs to 10 men, and put them in WSs.

From a slightly more practical standpoint, I might suggest seeing if you can find an old Eldar battleforce. Looks to be OOP on the webstore, but that’s probably because the start collecting box just came out. Might still be on the shelf at your local. But 10 guardians, 5 DA, a vyper and a WS would make a decent addition to your list. The DA and WS are my suggestion anyway, a duel ShurCat vyper puts out a repectable amount of dakka for it’s points, and the guardians can either be fielded as backfiled campers, or spliced in with the DA to make for larger squads of them.

* It’s worth noting that when I say “What I would do” might not be the best advice. I’ll admit to being biased. I’ve got a soft spot for grav-tanks, so will generally lean that way given the choice. My first thought when looking at what you had was “250 points? 2x5 man footslogging squads? That’s a pair of Falcons!” But then, the Falcon was was brought me into the world of Eldar. Love them. I’ll also leap at a chance to drop the War Walkers, as I think they are ugly as sin. It helps that by doing so, everything is in the air. Thematically, this is very appealing. A trio of grav tanks zooming across the battlefield makes my Saim-Hann heart sing. Plus, getting mud on your boots is for lesser races.

Re:[750] - Eldar Craftworlds - Need help going up to 1000

I have a couple of units of windriders, a farseer on a bike and two fire prisms already and I was planning on getting some more bikes, as well as some spiders and a wk, but I don't play competitively and I'm not likely to any time soon, if ever. Most of the people I play with also aren't that competitive, in it more for the fun than anything else, so I figured it may be a good idea to tone it down a bit; winning every time gets a bit tiring and I don't want to get to the point of people not wanting to play with me. We mostly play 750 points, sometimes 1k, but rarely more than that, if ever.

I personally quite like the war walker model, although the skimmers are nice too.

I'm open to pretty much anything, formations, allies, etc; I just want to make sure I'm not making too powerful an army for a rather casual environment. The only things I am absolutely against are vypers (I have 3 and I never use them 'cause when I do, they are wasted points and do nothing), shining spears (If I want cc bikes, I'll ally in some of the harlequin ones) and guardians (they're even shorter ranged than the avengers and I really don't like their models).

How does this look for 1k?

CAD

HQ
- Prince Yriel - 140

Elites
- Wraithblades (5) - 275
-- Ghost Axes and Forceshields, Wave Serpent (Twin-Linked Bright Lance, Shuriken Cannon)

Troops
- Dire Avengers (5) - 210
-- Exarch (Diresword and Shuriken Pistol), Wave Serpent (Twin-Linked Bright Lance)
- Dire Avengers (5) - 210
-- Exarch (Diresword and Shuriken Pistol), Wave Serpent (Twin-Linked Bright Lance)
- Dire Avengers (5) - 95
-- Exarch (Diresword and Shuriken Pistol)

Heavy Support
- War Walker - 70
-- 2x Bright Lance

Looks pretty good.

One advantage to Eldar is that they are on the powerful side. So when you are putting a list together, you don’t need to pay that much attention to how effective/efficient things are. You’ve got some brightlances for AV, a reasonable amount of small arms for everything else. No AA, but if you focus on the ground game, you should be OK. Or just aim brightlances up until you shoot flyers down.

If you have bikes and are willing to use them, I might take a squad of windriders rather then the 5 man DA on foot. If you don’t spam the heavy weapons, you should avoid most calls of cheese. But they are a very good unit.
