Forgeworld - what constitutes a complaint?

So my Tau hammerhead missile pad turned up today, and there seems to be some excess resin in some of the gaps in the parts. Now I don't know about you guys, but when the gap is 2mm or less wide, that's very difficult to cut the excess out without ruining the model.

Should I take photo's and send forgeworld an email? They do make detailed parts look rather flat :/

I had a similar issue with my Large Space Marine. Just sand it with fine sand paper and fill in those areas with putty filler. thats what I would do personally.

If your local to Forge World walk in their with it and say WTF?

Nottinghams a little far for my itty 125 to make, but if you guys think this is bad enough to at least let forgeworld know somethings up I'll just email them. Even if I can fix this myself, they should know in case it's a mold issue.

Email sent with two extra photo's showing a mold slip on the side of the turret itself. You would have thought forgeworld would have better quality control, considering they sell very expensive, very detailed models. Must cost them a fortune to replace too many parts.

Yeah that's a valid complaint. They need the order # and photos and they can sort you out.
A lot of their issues are with older models. I've not had significant issue with recent releases, especially high detailed figures... But damn did my Tauros jeep have problems.

Re:Forgeworld - what constitutes a complaint?

Forge world are really good with fixing stuff in my experience. The issues are usually when a mould is reaching the endnof its viable life and due for replacement.

The quality of FW casts are generally among the best iv worked with and their CS is really good especially when it comes to replacing stuff that's not quite right especially compared to a couple of other companies iv bought from recently *looking at you warlord*

Forgeworld - what constitutes a complaint?

They've ordered another one for me, but they're sending it to their office to be quality checked, then express shipped to me.

Their manufacturing costs must be pretty low, or they care more about the customer than profit. Both pretty rare in the model business.

Forgeworld - what constitutes a complaint?

Welcome to buying FW and the random die roll to see if you need replacement parts. Whether I would have bothered asking for a replacement depends on how soon I needed to use the model. Fixing the filled-in lines is pretty straightforward but annoying, so it would be a question of whether I'm willing to wait a month for a replacement to avoid the work of fixing the part. Sometimes it's just not worth waiting for replacements even if the casting quality is lacking.

LazzurusMan wrote:
Their manufacturing costs must be pretty low, or they care more about the customer than profit.

Probably a combination of both. They can afford to cast a replacement for you, especially at local shipping prices instead of international, and they know that a major factor in people continuing to buy their products is the knowledge that when you have a bad cast (when, not if) it will be replaced no questions asked. The real question is why they find it cheaper to send out replacements at lose money on international shipping instead of having better quality control that tosses out the bad casts before they're sold. There must be a lot of people who don't care how bad a model looks as long as it has the rules they want.

Forgeworld - what constitutes a complaint?

Funny thing is that now they have a quality control guy who's responsible for checking for these kind of issues. And he still makes errors. But the most important thing is that this time FW actually asked me to send the models back so they can bring them back to the warehouse and, probably, say something to the guy who packed them.
