				<title>[1500] - Space Marines - Tale of 4 gamers </title>
				<description><![CDATA[ so after much discussion me and 3 other colleagues are starting a tale of 4 games.<br /> <br /> starting at 500pts building up to 1500pts.<br /> <br /> i have been playing <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> for many (many) years, but my friends have dropped in and out of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span>, so my plan is to build a decent all rounders force, but not too powerful that i will destroy their armies.<br /> <br /> 2 of the armies i will be facing will be a themed ork speed freak force, and a themed white scars biker army.<br /> <br /> so my first 500pts will be:<br /> p.s. only 1 troop is required at first<br /> <br /> Librarian (with a staff) =65<br /> <br /> 10 man tactical, heavy bolter and melta gun =160<br /> <br /> 5 terminators (bolters and fists) =175<br /> <br /> dreadnought (multimelta) =100<br /> <br /> Total 500 pts<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> as the army expands to full size the full list is what i am thinking of taking, i am trying to avoid the fast attack areas of the codex as my opponents will have similar model/armies.<br /> i am also thinking either ultra marines or crimson fists for chapter tactics (mostly because i havent painted a blue marine army yet)<br /> <br /> <br /> librarian in terminator armour = 90<br /> <br /> tactical (10) heavy bolter melta gun = 160<br /> <br /> tactical (10) rocket melta gun = 165<br /> <br /> scouts (5) bolters = 55<br /> <br /> sternguard (10) melta bomb = 225<br /> <br /> terminators = 175<br /> <br /> dreadnought = 100<br /> <br /> storm talon, typhoon missiles = 130<br /> <br /> devastators (10) 4 rockets = 200<br /> <br /> predator heavy bolters = 100<br /> <br /> predator heavy bolters = 100<br /> <br /> total 1500<br /> <br /> any input would be appreciated to make a better well rounded list, however i will be playing less experienced games and do not want to brutally crush them (cos they wont play again).<br /> <br /> as a note i would like to use the 30k models from the Calth boxset, but generally speaking i have no restrictions on building / buying / painting models.<br /> <br /> thanks  <br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ In my experience, newer players don't like playing against flyers, as they usually don't have any way at all to deal with them in their first few armies. maybe another dread or unit of terminators would be a good replacement.<br /> <br /> I like the Preds for this kind of thing, maybe make the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(29);'>devs</span> into 5 man squads. or cut them for las on your predators and run the tactical squads and sternguard in rhinos instead. <br /> <br /> Otherwise, it looks like a pretty solid list for playing against newer players. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ This might be a little off topic, but the tactical squad loadout, how are you planning on using it?<br /> <br /> I've ended up with two tactical squads with the army I'm building at the moment and both are armed with <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(51);'>HB</span> and meltaguns too, but I've been worried its not that effective.  I thought pulling the meltaguns apart and replacing them with plasma might be better, but I also hate the fact it gets hot...  <br /> <br /> So I guess whats your plan for them?]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ thanks for the advise<br /> <br /> my friends have been doing some research . . .<br /> <br /> i will be keeping the advise for the newer players i face (because its fun and balanced)<br /> <br /> i have discovered that i will be facing several of the harder biker grav white scars formations and a ton of dakka jets, burna bombers and boys in trucks.<br /> <br /> so i need to up the game a lot<br /> <br /> i am thinking would it be good to replace the sternguard with a captain with hammer shied eternal and jump pack and chuck him with a 5 man assault squad.<br /> split one tactical into 2 5 man squads giving me a demi company?<br /> <br /> [i haven't got my codex at work, so no points] ]]></description>
