You don't have nearly enough synapse. You have 2 HT as your only synapse units. With their wings they will be moving far to fast to maintain a synapse web for the slower melee units to move up the field with them unless you keep them gliding, and then why? They are best at full speed swooping.

Genestealers are incredibly underwhelming, as are ravenors. But they will be much much worse when the synapse web just crumples.

hmm, thanks. Maybe change Mawloc for Trygon (or Trygon Prime), but where could I get points? Sporocyst is appealing, infiltrating to objective and holding it with T5 W6. Genes are also for cheap objective capturing. Raveners are the main assault group, but they indeed need some synapse aid.

I recommend this a lot but, if you cut the sporecyst and the tyronnofex you have just about the points for a living artillary node. That will give you 3 warriors with a cannon that rerolls scatter, 3 biovores (our longest range gun) dropping large blasts that reroll scatter, and a exocrine one of the very few sources of high str high ap guns we have that can either fire off 6 shots or a large blast that.... rerolls scatter. Keep the warriors in the middle of the biovores to keep them protected as they act as your rear/mid field synapse and let the exocrine decimate anything that decides to get to close while the biovores just drop pie plates from 4 feet away.

Do note, that warrior brood will be targeted with everything they have. The HT in the air will be too durable to be focused on immediately with the biovores and exocrine blasting away. When I build my lists I try to have overlapping lots of synapse. A warrior brood or 2 and a zoanthrope brood or 2 with the troops acting as bubble wrap to protect them or getting in everyones face so they have to deal with all the distractions instead of focusing in on my all too important synapse web.

Effective nid list building is about building in distractions and redundancies (that is, as long as you are not going super cheesy bring as many flyrants as humanly possible). Create multiple threats they have to deal with while doubling up on anything that keeps the synapse web going. If focusing on the warriors would collapse the synapse web they will. If the warrior brood is one of 3 units keeping the horde going they will try to deal with the 15-30 hormagaunts barreling down on them. If they are dealing with the hormagaunts the biovores are left in peace to drop barrages of spore mines all over the field.

Distractions and redundancies.

Worth considering. There is still Harpies with spore bombs to counter hordes, but what do you think about weapon options for Raveners, should they be melee or ranged combat group?

[1850] - Tyranid - Behemoth - Competitive?

What's your definition of competitive? Will you be playing against other competitive/hard lists? If so, then you'll get your face pushed in with this list. Here's what I see to help you fix your list.

Regen isn't worth the points. Drop it on everything.

Flyrants should always be 2 x Dev's with Electroshock grubs. Rending claws is a waste of points as you should never land to fight things, also as a MC you already ignore armour.

Genestealers/Raveners die to a breath of wind. If you're looking for competitive list then your troops should either be deep striking rippers if you're using a CAD, or 3 x Mucolids if you're using a HFD. Min/Max where possible.

Harpies are pretty bad. Don't have good AA, and their damage output isn't equivalent of their points. Spore bomb thingy doesn't do as well as you think. If you're dead set on spore mining horde lists, get 3 x Biovores. Cheaper and better than Harpies at killing hordes or low AV.

Sporocysts are pretty bleh as well. Expensive for what they do. Even if you just plant them on an objective they still wont do much. Especially after the appalling FAQ for LOS on their guns, they're pretty useless.

Tyrannofex are super expensive even without the Regen upgrade. Their low BS and low shot count are a bad combo. You'll never pen with that weapon, so it fails at it's intended job.

Mawlocs are good. Bring 2+ of them. They're a good combo with your Lictor.

Welcome to Codex: Flyrant. It's sadly our best choice over anything in our codex. If you want to play a fun fluffy list then by all means yours will be good. But second you start playing against players who are in it to win, you'll quickly find out much of your units die quickly.

Here's what I'd recommend if you want to stand a chance against other competitive lists.

Many Flyrants
Min Mucolids
Venomthropes (Or FAR better Malanthropes)
Mawlocs w Lictor beacons.

Here's some meh to decent units to fill out your list.

CAD Tervigons. Their Gaunts are OS now.

Tyrant Guard. Post FAQ their Flyrant can leave them after T1 and CC/AG/TS Tyrant Guard are good at face punching things in the backfield.

Hive Guard. Arent as good post BS nerf, but decent.

2xTLD Carnifex. - A walking Flyrant. Can't have enough TLD.

Crones - Decent AA.
