Oh I agree 100% the price is crazy. Like mr happy face said, the chipping your experiencing will be solved by getting any kind of foam case. Well the ardcase will certainly be a very good case for being secure and safe in the hold, and even has that little pressure release valve. If you're happy to spend the money on it and it's the one you've got you're heart set on, I say go for it. If you can get KR cases in Australia however, it might be worth having a look at their range. They do very nice foam, and offer nice hard metal cases. Buying a Model Carry Case GW. Or, the ideal option (something I've been using lately) is genuine Pelican cases filled with miniatures foam. The cases are expensive but can occasionally be found for cheap (when sold used).

Buy model carrying foam inserts from somebody and fit them in the heavy duty case = voila.
