Herald of Slaanesh tactics/loadout

So it occurred to me recently that I own at least 1 Troop, 1 Herald and 1 Greater Deamon/Prince for each of the 4 Chaos gods. Except a Herald of Slaanesh.
I think it's time I get around to that.

Aside from my 2 Soulgrinders and Keeper/Princess, I only have 20 Daemonettes (no Seekers or Fiends). So what are some good load outs/ tactics for using a Herald with Deamonettes?
I was thinking of going around 100pts, definitely on Steed, Etherblade, probably Exalted Locus
Use the 12" move and long base to give my Daemonettes and extra 5" on the charge (her 3" base + coherency). Keep the Herald deep in the unit until I change, when she goes up front, using LOS to avoid getting wounded by Overwatch. Then challenge out a weak character for her to kill while everyone gets re-roll to Hit.

Did I miss anything? Any other combos that would work well with Daemonettes?

-

What about adding 1 or 2 mastery levels to access psychic shriek so your herald can deal with tougher targets like MC/GMC's.

The majority of times I have seen Herald of Slaanesh used is when it is summoned through sacrifice (did I get that right?) and uses a mastery level to psychic shriek a random target.

Yeah, I could do that if points allow. It's especially nice now that rolling on BRB tables gives you Psychic focus too, not just Chaos focus. So she could roll on Telepathy hunting for Invis or Shrouded, and always getting Shriek no matter what.

It makes her kinda pricey though.

Even if you dont end up using her to cast it's still more WC in an army that pretty much always wants more warp charges. And if you do roll Invis or shrouding it's a pretty big boon to the unit

Re:Herald of Slaanesh tactics/loadout

I like to run Exalted Locus of Beguilement, Greater Reward for Greater Aetherblade and Lesser Reward with ML2. Of late I've been fielding one in the Flayertroupe formation, but as you only have 20 Daeamonettes that's not an option for you at the moment. This formation shares the Exalted Locus across all formation units within 12" of it.

Another nifty trick to use if you have it mounted on a Steed is to include it in a large unit of Seekers with the Lesser Locus of Grace for MTC. No more dangerous terrain tests.

Re:Herald of Slaanesh tactics/loadout

Herald of Slannesh is tricky, she can pack a punch but requires some good tactics that understand their strengths and weaknesses. The slannesh table for spells is pretty decent, unlike the telepathy table has no inheritly *terrible* spells, and on a max psyker level 2 it is important to note if you want to risk invisibility for some of the more useless spells.

You also have to debate if you want her in a squad of seekers or in a huge blob of daemonettes for the same price, the daemonettes are hardier but slightly slower, and have more attacks if we are considering point value not squad size. Me personally I prefer daemonettes on foot, ot makes me cry a little when a whole unit of my seekers gets blown to pieces while daemonettes are almost just as strong and more dependable,

I run a flayertroupe, meaning -1 initiative and WS to the enemy units in CC, which in recent games has been very powerful, ensuring daemonettes ALWAYS hit on 4's even against weapon skill 10 enemies, also increases the chance of enemies hitting on 5's rather than 4's which is important in keeping such low toughness models alive. I often take 60 daemonettes minimum to insure they stay alive untill they get into combat. When taking the herald in a flayertroupe it is vital to take a loci of beguilement, this means your ordinary daemonettes kill anything they come in contact with, you will be amazed how many wounds these things can deal with these rerolls! 1 unit of 10 can take down a wraithknight in 1 turn of combat on the charge. 2 units of daemonettes only further seal the deal. They arent tough but they are fast and devistating.

Now all that being said, recently in havn't been running a herald of slannesh, but instead the masque of slannesh, which I highly reccomend giving a try if you are playing competatively. She is the bane of any deathstar and can null any shooting or charging the enemy has. As a perfect example in a competative match I went up against a tzeench army with a daemon prince, he managed to get a permanent 2++ re-rollable save and had toughness 8 strength 8, with a 4+ feel no pain (yay biomancy) meaning that thing was literally unkillable when running anything without D weapons (which daemons and most armies lack) when that thing touched the board I had for all intents and purposes lost the game, but lucky for me I packed the Masque, I lured the prince just out of 12 inch charge range and the masque began her dance of caging, from that point on the prince was as good as useless, only moving around 2 inches per turn and never got into combat.

For only 75 points Im not sure I will ever not take her again, You can do the same with thunderwolf stars, Screamerstars, Orikanstars, you name it and its now practically useless. Only downside is the masque damn hard to keep alive, invis and book of true names does really help but when she gets her job done she is far better than most units in most armies. I highly reccomend giving her a try because if you do come up against a 2++ daemon prince like I did, you can psychic shreik and re-roll all you like but it wont even scratch him.
