Possible Use for Ork Warbikes?

Tried this idea this past Friday and it worked out really well for me.

Basic idea is to take a minned out unit of Warbikes (3), make them as cheap as possible by stripping their TL Big Shootas for 2 CCW's, and then upgrading to a Nob, giving him the 3+ Save, and then a PK.

I did this with my fledgling KoS army and used two units of Warbike Outriders and their Scout Move. Worked out really well getting to go first and I ended up getting turn 1 charges against the side armor on two Exorcists with 5 PK attacks auto-hitting because they hadn't moved yet. It was beautiful and it made my Looted Demolisher extra happy.

I figure that for a unit of Warbikes in a normal Ork army it's 125 Points for this, and for the Outriders it comes in to 140 Points. With the Outriders you can use them for some reliable first turn tank busting, doubly so if you get first turn. Aside from that, their scout move can get them into cover to survive the first round of shooting and into CC for tie up moves or to hit some vulnerable firing units.

The regular warbikes could just turbo boost up, use the extra bikers as abligative wounds, and then basically do what the Outriders do, and just force your opponent to divert fire from more important targets and probably even live through that to make it to whatever "must kill" objectives you have for them.

My view is skewed since I tried them out and they worked wonderfully, but I was hoping the fine minds here could give me their opinions on how it'd work for the Boyz.

RE: Possible Use for Ork Warbikes?

And so I get to looking around at the shiny new Armageddon Codex I got from Baltimore GD and I take a look at the Deth Koptas. They're essentially giving you a unit that fullfills this role but slightly better.

For 86 Poitns you get a single model, a Mek on a Kopta, 3+ Save, PK, and Slugga. If you really wanted you could tack on the one or two other regular Koptas for dakka and abligative wounding, and with the increased armor saves they stick around much longer as tie-up units in CC, which can be pretty useful.

Still this is yet another way to nab a flying 3+ PK for less points, albeit without the scout moves of the more expensive and risky Outriders. They would work wonders contributing to the target overload factor of KOS, and with their reckless turbo boosting they could easily get at the rear armor of tanks to use their TL big shootas in addition to charging with their PK's to put the hurt on some tanks.

Heck for what it does and what it costs, it's almost like the KoS equivalent of a Landspeeer Tornado.
