I been playing warhammer for almost a year now and i already have 2 factions which consists of orks and imperial guard. After collecting a bit more for my orks, i want to start another army... Perhaps... None that requires too much models. I'm really interested in a xeno race like the tau for example... Could you guys perhaps point me in a direction that i might consider buying

I suppose you could also swerve and go with a MC heavy Daemon army as well if the mood catches you. If you want low numbers, the best way to get that in Eldar is Wraith host - wraithguard and wraithblades are rather expensive points wise (wraithblades are 30 points each, wraithguard are 32-42), wraithlords are pretty great, and wraithknights are both fun to model/paint and pretty potently powerful.

But there are lots of low model count armies already listed in the thread, but Harlequins or Dark Eldar (specifically Haemonculous Covens) are a lot of fun and play vastly different to these two armies so if you like their aesthetic then I highly recommend going that route.

No, holding off makes no sense. The 8th ed may even be worse than the 7th one.
