				<title>[1500] - Imperial Guard</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ So I just ordered the 'new' Imperial Guard codex since it's finally time to get back into gaming. Is there any chance you fine folks could suggest a list or two from the models I have while I wait for my codex? I used to run an infantry heavy assaulty army, and it fared relatively well, though I'm not sure if it's any good anymore.<br /> <br /> Models<br /> -4 'commanders'<br /> -2 snipers<br /> -9 meltaguns<br /> -16 flamers<br /> -4 autocannons<br /> -2 lascannons<br /> -a disgusting amount of heavy bolters (they're all old metal cadians so most of the heavy weapons are these)<br /> -8 vox troopers<br /> -90ish lasgun models<br /> -3 commissars<br /> -3 priests<br /> <br /> I had a couple kitbashed hydra's and wyverns lying around somewhere as well.<br /> <br /> Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated!<br /> ]]></description>

				<title>[1500] - Imperial Guard</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I have very limited experience playing guard, I have played a couple games but never large scale. <br /> <br /> Shooting is very good this edition, so taking a couple big platoons 3 squads in each.. if you combined squad and put them all together you can put out a disgusting amount of firepower. One vox per platoon in the squad and one in the command squad for each and you can reroll orders, a commissar in a platoon squad also gives them stubborn so less likely to run away.<br /> <br /> You can also split up your weapon teams between the platoons depending on the enemy your facing. Guard armies can struggle without armoured support but you have enough anti tank special weapons. <br /> <br /> Just my two cents<br /> ]]></description>

Its great to see another mass infantry player <img src="/s/i/a/c944477abc92c1c101da485e07ff06d8.gif" border="0"> I have been running pure infantry guard for 5 years now and I can say with confidence that it is still going strong.<br /> <br /> However, the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> has changed in 6th and 7th edition. Assualt is much harder to do as <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> now and shooting is more viable. With that in mind (and the models you have) I suggest the list below:<br /> <br /> Combined Arms Detachment (AKA the old style force org chart)<br /> <br /> <u><span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span></u><br /> Company Command Squad 1: Lascannon team, Vox and Sniper.<br /> Company Command Squad 2: Lascannon team, Vox and Sniper.<br /> Priest: Autogun, laspistol and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(20);'>CCW</span>.<br /> Priest: Autogun, laspistol and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(20);'>CCW</span>.<br /> Priest: Autogun, laspistol and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(20);'>CCW</span>.<br /> Commisar: Power Axe, Bolter.<br /> Commisar: Power Axe, Bolter.<br /> Commisar: Power Axe, Bolter.<br /> <i>2 command squads will give you plenty of orders to buff you men with and the Lascannons allow them to snipe tanks from far away. Priest and Commissars are needed to buff the platoons</i><br /> <br /> <u>Elites</u><br /> Tempestus Scion Platoon:<br /> Tempestus Scion Command Squad: 3x Melta Gun<br /> Tempestus Scion Squad (AKA storm troopers): 2x Melta Gun<br /> Tempestus Scion Squad (AKA storm troopers): 2x Melta Gun<br /> Tempestus Scion Squad (AKA storm troopers): 2x Melta Gun<br /> <i>These guys are you suicide melta squads, they drop in and blow up heavy armour. Consider allying them in, they have there own codex as well as being in the Guard codex. They will die in large numbers but will stand to the last man if blobbed up and a priest and commissar is put into each blob.</i><br /> <br /> <u>Heavy Support</u><br /> Wyvern<br /> Wyvern<br /> Hyrda<br /> <br /> OR<br /> <br /> Hyrda <br /> Hydra <br /> Wyvern.<br /> <br /> <i>It depends on your meta on which combination your go for. If you are facing lot of infantry i recommand option 1. If you are facing Flyers and Skimmers I recommend option 2</i><br /> <br /> That is a 1500 point list using only the models you listed. This is for 2 reasons: <br /> 1) your basic grunts are going to die by the bucket load, so its not worth spending the points on them.<br /> 2) your basic grunts are only BS3. The heavy hitting special weapons like Meltaguns and Plasma Guns are better off in the hands of Veterans or Stormtroopers with their BS4.]]></description>

Nothing more irritating than having 30 some guardsmen who are actually decent in combat get tied up by a 50 point sentinel that they can't hurt.]]></description>
