Hi all

Just getting back into Eldar, I wanted a non cheesy, fluff friendly list that performs well. I have made this list using models i already have, so would appreciate comments on this, but I am also thinking of buying the following (for larger point battles): Swooping Hawks, Warp Spiders, Hemlock wraithfighter, and a jetseer.
For a friendly/fluff list, I would not use the Aspect host at all. Just plug those units into your CAD. They will still preform well.
You also have a Farseer on foot, your bikes don't have Scatter lasers and a Wraithlord somehow got into your list. I'd say you are on your way to making a good, but not cheesy list.
I would split the Windriders into 2 units of 3 and use them as harassment/objective grabbers.
I might also give the Dire Avengers the Scorpions Serpents since the scorpions have infiltrate and can't assault out of the Serpent anyway.

-

[1500] - Eldar - Eldar list and addons

Welcome to Dakka!

Minor technical note: Please don’t list individual upgrade costs. Unit totals are fine though. There is a sticky with a few other forum rules at the top of the section.

Your list looks pretty good overall. Obviously, there are a few things you could do to make it nastier. But it looks balanced and would be fun to play against.

One thing that stuck out was I think the DA could use the WS more then the scorpions

Re:[1500] - Eldar - Eldar list and addons

Thanks for the welcome and advice on posting, will rectify this when i get a moment. I will defo use the WS for the DA as you both suggest. I wondered if i was aiming for a 1850 list, what i would add to make it a little bit nastier? I am considering Hawks, spiders, Hemlock, Jetseer?

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Galef wrote:
For a friendly/fluff list, I would not use the Aspect host at all. I couldnt see any apparent weaknesses apart from lack of ++ save. I think i needed something with a couple of Bright Lances to do the job in case the fire dragons get wasted. I also have a Falcon I can paint up if you think that would be better.

[1500] - Eldar - Eldar list and addons

The problem with the wraithlord (and about 90% of the Eldar codex) is that it’s not a wraithknight (or scatbike/warpspider/other broken unit). For roughly twice the points, the WK brings far, far more then just twice the number of wounds. The lack of a invuln is another major factor. But if you just want to bring some brightlances, re-gearing your warwalkers would be a better choice.

Falcons are in the same boat. They are not bad in an absolute sense, but why take one instead of a wave serpent? The WS is significantly tougher due to it’s shields, carries more guys, can be taken as a slot free dedicated transport, and still has respectable firepower. That said, In my limited experience, Falcons still do fine. I have two (they are the model that brought me to the army) and they still bring the firepower. Last time I ran them I went with the classic scatter laser for the spare gun, but I think brightlances might be in order for the future. Either empty as gunboats or with a small squad of aspect warriors (fire dragons are great, or DA for objective grabbing).

All of the units you list to add on are good. I might go with the Crimson Hunter over the Wraithfighter, as it’s better for keeping the skies clear. What else to add really depends on what you like. And what your local meta looks like. You have a fairly balanced list as-is, so you might want to see what’s giving you problems on the table and adjust from there.

With Eldar, there is no wrong choice.
