[1500] - Assassins + 360pts

My ITC runs tournaments at 1500, usually I bring my renegades but I wanted to bring something completely opposite of the usual list.

So instead of hordes and templates I'm bring 2 Assassin Formations, just to see what happens.

So I have a few points left over and was wondering what else to bring, I have plenty of renegades to run anything out of the inqusition book, and have some unassembled Battle of Caleth marines I can run deathwatch with, but I don't have much experience with either of the books. (also not opposed to going and getting bits for stuff I don't have)

What would be the best to run with this? Any tips for such a low model count (as I'm use to running 100+) Thanks!

Your mention of the Inquisition started me thinking on what sort of silly little warbands I could put together to compliment this overall silly idea. I came up with:

++Inq Detachment (359pts)

+HQ
79pts - Ordo Xenos, BP, Conversion Beamer, 3x Servo Skulls
70pts - Ordo Xenos, BP, Conversion Beamer

+Elite
105pts - Henchmen Warband - 3x Servitors with Plasma Cannons, 1x Psyker, 1x Monkeyman
105pts - Henchmen Warband - 3x Servitors with Plasma Cannons, 1x Psyker, 1x Monkeyman

So you're putting a Xenos in each squad and camping these guys on obj with good vantage points. The Psykers roll Div just for Prescience to help negate Gets Hot. You are getting 4 small pies each turn from each squad, one S8 AP4 and three S7 AP2. You are also getting Lascannon or MM from the Monkeymen. And if they roll lucky those plasma blasts are now 48" range. Remember that your Conversion Beamers measure the strengeth of their shot AFTER scatter, so they can target something 42" away and possibly scatter for an even more devastating S10 AP1 blast. The Servo Skulls will help you control your opponents' deployments a bit...and help your Assassins get into place in some instances. Another option would be to lose the randomness of the Monkeys for a few Crusaders in each squad to tank hits on their Storm Shields...dunno.

I don't have much advice, except that you're largely at 4+ or 4++ all around so you better really love coin flips. Otherwise I'd just have fun with it.

[1500] - Assassins + 360pts

All those templates give me a bit of horde control while also allowing me to hit stronger targets... Might not be a terrible idea,I mean none of any of this is a good idea anyway so hah.

Would probably grab crusaders as i lack monkey models and have some shields thrown around if I ran this.

I'll bring a few coins instead of dice

Re:[1500] - Assassins + 360pts

Or you could do the max with Psyker Inquisitors and Psyker Henchmen to feed your Culexus Assassins Warp Charges.

Inquisitorial Detachment (x2), each with:
- ML1 Ordo Whatever Inquisitor (x2)
- Henchmen Warband (x3)
-- Acolyte
-- Acolyte
-- Psyker
===========================
170 ea/340 total/20 pts for further upgrades

That's 11-13 warp charges each Culexus can use for their Animus Speculum (1 each from 4 Inquisitors, 1 each from 6 Psykers, 1-3 from your rolled warp charges pool), plus whatever warp charges you can pick up from enemy psykers.

I thought about that but ITC restricts it to 3 detachments, the two assassin formations take up two of those so I only have 1 to play with. That being said I can get up to 5 warp charges for him if I go this route.
