[1000] - Orks - First attempt at an Evil Sunz list

Hello! There's a decent selection of Orks from the Black Reach set so you've got a good start to your collection. Evil Sunz are a good choice, it's a lot of fun and can be quite effective.

Firstly a Warboss can't take a Waaagh! banner, that piece of wargear is exclusive to Nobz units. The Warboss can his Weber take relics, one of which is Da Lucky Stikk - this is stupidly good for a Mega Armour character and only costs 25 points. The Mega Armour isn't 100% fluffy for an Evil Sunz list (its heavy and slows him down) but that doesn't matter. Cyborl body is a bit of a bum upgrade for 5 points, i would removw it. The kombi-rokkit is more in line with a Bad Moonz list and even then it has no place in any list IMO - it's a 5 point upgrade that hits once every three games on average. I would get rid of all the kombi-rokkits and find a way to squeeze in a unit of Tankbustas who are all equipped with rokkit launchas and come with a few extra goodies for a very efficient cost in points.
The Weirdboy will be fun to use but won't usually be particularly useful.

The bread and butter of a Slugga Boyz unit is a Nob with a bosspole and power klaw, you've got the bosspole which is good but I would recommend at least buying a big choppa for him as well. This allows the unit of boyz to threaten (at least a little bit) every unit on the board that isn't a flyer or AV14 vehicle. You can lose the single rokkit launchas in these units if you need some extra points, you've already got a rokkit mounted on the Trukk itself which is great. The 'eavy armour is a bit unfluffy as well but more importantly it's not actually very good, there's a plethora of AP4 and better weapons out there and it's costly. I would at least take the 'eavy armour off one of the Boyz units.

The Nobz unit isn't very good, their role has now fallen to Meganobz who are much better. For now though you'll probably have to make do with the Nobz so we'll have to try to be as efficient with them as possible. Firstly they aren't a shooty unit so the kombi-rokkits are wasted really, you'll want these guys and your Warboss in combat as soon as possible. If you're using the Warboss in this unit with mega armour and da Lucky Stikk relic he can act as a shield for them and take as many wounds as possible on his 2+ armour save, anything that bypasses that save you can Look Out Sir! to one of the Nobz instead. This was we can improve the survivability of the whole unit. Because of that idea the Nobz don't even need 'eavy armour, they will usually be protected by the Warboss' 2+ armour save - to make the most of this you need to be careful where you position the Warboss, you want him to be the closest model to your opponents shooting units; wounds from shooting will be issued to him and his good save before any other models. It sounds bad, but trust me it's great. The Nobz themselves should probably have at least one power klaw, in a small game like this I would give one Nob (not the Boss Nob) a power klaw and another one or two a big choppa (not the Boss Nob again). The idea behind leaving the Boss Nob without any special weapons is that he can accept any challenges instead of your Warboss, the Boss Nob might (probably will) die but all your other melee weapons get to strike without potentially being killed by a nasty melee HQ.

The Deffkoptas are great as they are, just make sure to take three units of one model and not one unit of three models. Their greatest weakness is their Leadership, but of you spread them out in aingle model units that doesn't become an issue.

The Battlewagon is primarily a transport and not a main battle tank sadly and the killkannon is a lacklustre weapon for it's cost. You can keep it if you like it but if you fire it all other weapons on that vehicle have to fore snapshots so only hit on a 6 (this is because of the killkannon's Ordnance rule). Something else to keep on mind is if you move the vehicle over 6" the killkannon can't fire at all because it's a blast marker. I like my Battlewagon's with a reinforced ram and one rokkit - I move it up the board 12" in the movement phase, flat out 6" in the shooting phase and then next turn the assault unit charges out and the 'wagon goes around claiming objectives, tank shocking and ramming things to be annoying.

Good luck with your list and your army! Let us know how it pans out for you.

[1000] - Orks - First attempt at an Evil Sunz list

Thanks for the feedback gents, I've never played Orks so not really sure what's worth fielding.

The wierdboy was because I'm a fantasy player and can't dream of leaving out a 'magic' phase, but I'm guessing in such a small game it's too many points to sink so he's out now.

I've amended the list a bit now, but have some points left over and need a bit of guidance. I've got 118 points to spend but if I drop the battlewagon it'll be closer to 270. Is the wagon really not worth it? I thought the killcannon sounds pretty fearsome if it hits.

I realise that meganobs are probably better than nobs but I've got the models and in a 1000pt game the investment in the big guys is a little too much, also trying to go for that Evil suns theme so dropped the Warboss mega Armour so he doesn't limit the squads mobility.

So what am i missing here? A tankbusta mob in a truck?

Also what are your thoughts on a morkanaut or gorkanaut? Love the look of the model but not sure about on paper.

Here's what I've got so far

Warboss
Power Klaw
Heavy Armour
Lucky Stick
Boss Pole
114

10 Boyz
Powe Klaw
Nob
Boss Pole
Big Shoota
105

10 Boyz
Powe Klaw
Nob
Boss Pole
Big Shoota
105

9 Nobz
Heavy Armour
8 Big Choppas
243

3 Defkoptas
Twin Linked Rokkit Launcher
90

Trukk
Rokkit Launcher
Red Paint Job
35

Trukk
Rokkit Launcher
Red Paint Job
35

Battle Wagon
2 Rokkit Launchers
Kill Cannon
Red Paint Job
155
