Doing something about the election

Wow. that is quite a thread. Suddenly there is a lot of interest in the electoral college.

I voted for HIllary Clinton. I'm not her biggest fan but I certainly perfer her to Trump. You may disagree and wish to debate. I don't care. I'm not here to debate. I am here to invite. If you feel that Hillary Clinton ought to be president (for whatever reason) please drop me a line at ender502@gmail.com. If you want to curse at me you can do the same.

Some of us are doing our best to have an actual effect. We have embarked on a project of contacting Electors from various states to convince them to vote for HIllary Clinton rather than Donald Trump. If you would like to help you can email me at ender502@gmail.com.

This isn't a petition. This isn't a protest. This is a targeted campaign to, with civility and respect try to convince people toward our point of view.

If you want to debate...feel free. I will not be engaging in debate. You want to e-mail me and curse me out? Fine. Have at.

ender502

I think Trump is a dangerous authoritarian, but I'm not convinced the outcome would be any better if the electors went rogue. The system would still be broken, American democracy irreparably damaged, but with even more blood in the streets, an air of illegitimacy, and in four years an even more successful alt-right demagogue with a more angry base to rally. I think we're just going to have to sit back, make safe spaces for the vulnerable ones, and joke about what color American Brownshirts would wear until it is even less funny.

PS: the shirts would be white.

Doing something about the election

Hate to tell you this OP but I don't think that plan is going to work. It's like watching those people who post the article about how Hillary is still getting more votes tallied in some states that could push her popular vote lead to 1.8 million like it's going to change the results of the election.

The election is over, Trump won. Unless he gets hit by a bus tomorrow or something, that won't change.

Energy would be much better spent organizing, researching the electoral college so you can properly protest it, reaching out to those across the aisle to educate instead of demonize, and remembering that this may be a good thing. If Trump drops the ball and absolutely fails as a president, it will give the Dems all the ammo they need to run the country for the next couple decades. Just don't break out the "I told you so" signs until he's actually screwed up, acting like victory was a foregone conclusion is what caused the Dems to lose this election in the first place.

Doing something about the election

Of course I can't vote, but... I think, both of them not a confident choice. Hillary's lying and it supports the media, which is also lying. Trump too unpredictable. although he promised to solve the problem of America and its relations with the rest of the world for ... I do not believe the just words. Besides, he is not as soft as the Obama and his eggs may hit with Putin eggs, causing something. But still, if Hilary situation is clear, then suddenly what if Trump is not lying? See what happens after January
