I don't yet own a copy of the kill team rules, so I'm not 100% sure on assigning specialists, so for now it's just the basic list (which I' pretty sure I know the dealings of), however I have a basic idea of what I want the specialists to be.
I have no idea what the enemy might be bringing, and I'm just going with what I've heard, that being assault sucks even more in kill team and regular 40k. So my assault marines die a little more inside

A
9 man Sternguard Veteran Squad
- 9 x Boltguns (no upgrades)
= 198pts

Special issue ammo, should help with all comers.

B
10 man Death Company Squad
- 10 x Boltguns
= 200pts

Contrary to what we tell our kids, they do bite. Hard. However they don't bark as hard as the Veterans.

C
9 man Tactical Squad

5 man Scout Squad.
- Camo cloaks
- Sniper rifles
= 196

Are sniper rifles even worth while? Since everyone is their own man? Better strip them down to boltguns? Then give the tacticals a heavy bolter, multi-melta or a melta gun?

D 2 x 6 man Tactical Squads
- Plasma guns
= 198pts

Better to go with 2 x heavy bolters? Then give the sergeant a combi-weapon?

A or D, I'd say, and keep your guys together in groups a of 2, 3, or 4, in which case you can literally keep your guys back and manoeuvre them to different positions to pick off one or two at a time.
