I am about to purchase the Start Collecting Necrons box, pre order the paint set, an annihilation barge and the codex.

Just messing around with some small 500pt lists with what models I would have.
I will also magnetize the barge to use as either command or annihilation.

List 1
Catacomb Command Barge Overlord has Nightmare Shroud, Mindshackle Scarabs, Phase Shifter and Warscythe 225pts (might be overkill)
Triarch Stalker 135pts
10 x Necron Warriors 130pts

Totaling at 490pts, not sure whether to add on the gauntlet of fire or go 3 points over with another necron warrior.

List 2
Overlord with Nightmare Shroud, Mindshackle Scarabs, Phase Shifter and Warscythe 170pts
11 x Necron Warriors 143pts
3 x Canoptek Scarabs 60pts
Annihilation Barge 120pts

Totaling at 493 pts so no real room for anything else in this list.

List 3
Overlord with Nightmare Shroud 110pts
10 x Warriors 130pts
Annihilation Barge 120pts
Triarch Stalker 135pts

Totaling at 495pts but HQ is lackluster.

If I were starting over with Necron, I would buy one or two of the ghost ark / warrior combos and HQ of your choice. Stalker is a fun unit, and can be very useful especially in low point CADs, but I rarely use mine anymore. Ghost arks and warriors will give you a lot more bang for your buck and the new combo packs are pretty cheap. You can pick up a box of immortals as well, you will need 5 if you ever want to go decurion. 500 points you can build with that is:

CCB (Warscythe + Phase Shifter)
10 Warriors + Ark
5 Immortals

Your lists are $122.25, this list would cost $130.25 so price is comparable.

But Morris is right about the new Armored Assault box set if it comes with warriors and an ark as he states. Both warriors and their ark are amazing units, whereas the stalker in the Get Started box is a solid "meh".

Of the 4 lists posted, I would go with Morris' list TBH. Of your 3 lists, I would go with List 3. It has 2 AV 13 vehicles to overwhelm your enemy's AT abilities. It also travels at the same speed so you want get baited into separating your forces to get picked apart. Could use some scarabs for fast objective grabbers though...

The first 2 lists are legal Allied Detachments


AFAIK allied detachments can't be primary detachments, so it wouldn't work.

My list is for 500 is Cryptek + 5 Immortals + 16 warriors + 5 scarabs, but I don't recommend it . Quite slow and lacks power.
