New Army Painter 2017

All,

I recently purchased the new Army Painter Complete Warpaints Set - Ltd. ed. 2017. My wife told me that I requested she throw away my original Army Painter Mega Set 2014 due to our recent move. I completely forgot about this and immediately looked around for a new line or paint set to bring my collection up to speed. After looking at Games Workshop, Vallejo, P3, etc I found that this set was more well rounded and went with my paint style of being more gritty. Has anyone experienced the companies new range of improved paints and effects? Any information would be appreciated!

Mr. Raynor

Re:New Army Painter 2017

I took a punt on the new set too as I found it for a decent discount and it looked good value.

The range of colours is good, but not quite as comprehensive as the GW range that I'm used too.

The only real issue/adjustment I've come across so far is that they do not have anywhere near the coverage of the GW pains, so seem to take many many more layers. While this is good for layering, the initial base coating of areas takes a lot longer. As a result, I've ended up still using the GW base paints and find this an awesome combination.

I think like others on this board have said before, each paint range has pro's and con's, and I do think the coverage of the Army Painter paints is the main con. Combine this with some kind of base paint of your preference though, and problem solved

edit : Totally forgot to mention the washes!! This is one of the stand out areas for Army Painter - their washes are amazing. I don't think these latest ones are any different to the previous ones, as they still behave the same way and are still awesome.
