[1850] - Blood Angels - Golden Host w/demi company

The more and more I tinker around, the more I like the demi company over the archangel thing. Probably because I hate non-archangel sanguine wing vanguards. Assault marines and command squads get real melta guns. My only regret is no priest, but I think this would suitably unpleasant for many lists. That and Mr. Regular dreadnought always makes me feel sad vs taking a furioso with frag goodness. Feel free to suggest improvements.

Tac squad X 5
Hflamer
Rhino

Tac squad X 5
Hflamer
Rhino

Tac squad X 5
Hflamer
Rhino

Dev Squad X5
Lascannon X 4

Dreadnought (multimelta/heavy flamer)
Drop pod
Locator beacon

Assault squad (reserves) X6
Jump packs
Melta X 2
Vet sarge
Power sword

Command Squad (reserves)
Jump packs
Meltagun X 3
Storm shield X 3

Captain (reserves w/command squad)
Jump pack
Valour's Edge
Artificer armor
Auspex

Dante (warlord) (Reserves w/ melta pistol SG squad)

Sanguinary guard X 5 (reserves)

Sanguinary guard X 5 (reserves)
Melta pistol X 5

Speeder (Reserves)
Multi melta X 2

Re:[1850] - Blood Angels - Golden Host w/demi company

You have the mobility to grab objectives and anti-infantry, I like that. Might be nice to let the dread keep its powerfist. Is there a reason for lazcannons on the devs vs taking Grav Cannons + rhino/DP? I have a slight concern regarding what you have available turn 1, are you planning on mostly bunkering down/hiding? For the load out for the assault squad and command squad, I would add a melta bomb if possible. Captain is fine , although I would suggest having the Angel's Wing on the captain as an alternative.

My only real concern is that you have 2 units that can hurt vehicles possibly turn 1. Turn 2 onward of course, you are fine.

Consider going full null deploy style. Have the tacs and devs take drop pods. Being able to alpha strike no matter what is nice. Doing this, you can combo your reserves in ways to maximize damage given certain targets. For example, taking a few grav cannons on a turn 2 Dev reserve to knock down wounds on a killy MC/GMC, (which is then consussed) followed up by the Sang Guard + Dante to finish it off. Also, by going with more pods, you can put out more locator beacons and give yourself a wider range of no scatter deepstrike (Dread/tacs dropping in probably). If you are doing this, then perhaps have one of the tac squads take anti-tank weapons instead of the heavy flamer.

Btw, I really like the command squads, considering for the build, they are actually way cheaper than vanilla SM.

My thoughta are.. This has similarities to my latest list in this forum. Is the zealot at half strenght really worth it.. Swapping to BSF you could put the devastators in the third rhino with grav cannons, heavy bolter pairs and armorium cherub and swap the dread to fragioso. At exact same points. Zealot at half strength is imho too case sensitive.

It also gives the Golden Host red thirst and zealot.
I'd prefer to have those things, and at 2K I'd add grav cannons for sure. The fragnought I've just learned to live without for the moment. This list isn't fantastic vs MCs, but I think it will be good vs gladius.

Looking at my models and I could do quite similar list but with three pods and two devastators with grav and lascanno pair. I lack command squad, but captain could go with assault squad.

Do you think OIF is better without the red thirst and zealot than GH. My released list could be easily tweaked to have two locator beacons on pods and OIf if I swap GH, the attack bike and valour's edge.

Decisions.. My MVP has so far been the fragioso, so that only makes me ponder about the benefits of the AB demi. GH doesn't benefit from the red thirst on the turn they arrive anyways.

I still haven't used OIF. I really hate terminators. Red thirst won't matter much because almost all their weapons are unwieldy.

GH may not benefit the first turn, but you also get to pick a target where it doesn't matter. Hit and run means one squad at least will be charging turn 3.

I really miss the fragnought, but it's just the way it is. There are some advantages to the multi-melta. It can still do something if it gets immobilized, for example. It can also cripple a vehicle or a squad potentially when it drops.

The BA command squad kit is so sweet too. I actually have two command squads; one with and one without jump packs in case I ever use Mephy and Dante together in a big game.

I've used thrice the OIF, with two assault and one asscan chain fist termies. Haven't tried with Karlaen, but have used the veritas vitae for four tries to get four on the strategic warlord table for the Karlaen's reserve manipulation trait, succeeding twice. They have been a nice and I hurt a helldrake badly with 8 die snapping asscan. Actually could have deep striked within a skyfire nexus with the group.
