Unbound Armies

Quick question

If I were using an unbound army, do I need to fulfil the requirements of a troop choice in its entirety. Specifically with a guard army - If I took an IG Infantry Platoon, would I have to take a Platoon Command Squad and two Infantry Squads (the minimum required in the codex), or could I just take an Infantry Squad, or just a Heavy Weapons Squad, or just a Special Weapons Squad.

Or though its unlikely to happen, its a possibility with an army selection method I am planning to use from time to time to mix things up, especially in smaller games.

Re:Unbound Armies

This has been debated extensively here and here.

In summary, it depends on whether you're using the digital edition or the print edition of the IG/AM codex, as they contradict each other in the way they present the option.

Unbound Armies

Thanks for the links, will have a read through them. Based on your summary and what I have initially read, it comes down to is an infantry platoon a single entry or is it a formation. As I said, its unlikely to come up for me, and if it does, it would be easy enough to add the missing bits to make it legal. But I was curious.

Hopefully with the fall of Cadia we might get a new IG codex.
