[720pts] - MT/Inq - Inquisition base

Hi the point of this force is to form a base that can be added to Skitarri, SoB, SM or GK forces in or to make relevant Ordo task forces. In the case of Ordo Mechanicus I'd add 3 Taurox to the scion squads to carry some vanguard around.
Relatively simple force so probably not a lot that can be commented on, but open to all opinions and just want to check I've understood the inquisitorial representative detachment correctly and that it will work the way I expect it to.

2 Ordo Malleus Inquisitors 80pt each
Terminator armor, psycannon

Taken as inquisitorial representative from the new imperial agents codex, both roll on the strategic table, mainly to increase odds of getting re-roll reserves along with a bit more fire power and survivability to MT command squads. I first thought I'd have to take war bands as well but on rereading you can take just the inquisitor and still get the extra traits. Also I've not gone mad and strategic traits apply to armies and not just detachments right?

2 MT command squads 145pts each
4 plasma guns

Combined with the psycannon toting inquisitors should provide some flexible fire power, the preferred enemy rule benefiting the psycannnon and helping with infantry an MC's while rending will increase the odds if forced to deal with AV14.

3 MT squads 90pts
5 man 2 melta

Bit torn on how to kit these guys out, was tempted to keep on using plasma as it's more general purpose with AV14 not bing as much of an issue these days and skitarii, marines and sisters having plenty of AV firepower, but figured I didn't want elite models blowing themselves up with gets hot and melta would be handy for the grey knights, also the melta would still be handy for the other forces mentioned as it's more likely to get where needed with deep strike. Also debated giving them HSVGs and use them as objective holders but figured the small squad sizes would mean they would get blown off the table before they get to fire at full effect.

3 Taurox 95pts each
HSVG, gatling cannon, storm bolter

These will probably only be taken with the skitarri with the other armies having their own dedicated transports. I'm still half tempted to take them for the other Ordos even though squads can't start in them (I may ask nicely in friendlies for the sake of fluff) in order to minimise models required and to tie things together visually, what are peoples thoughts on this. Originally was going to keep them stock with autocannons to save points and for longrange fire power but figured I needed volume of fire for anti infantry duties. Also has the advantage that skitarii riding in them can pop vehicle with the arc rifles and the Taurox can hover up the models that spill out.

Interested in any feedback and will post the individual ordos forces at a later date.

P.S All though I'm unlikely to field this as a stand alone force, on the 1000 pts scale what do people think the chances of the 3 Taurox surviving the first turn till reserves come in? Guessing nil against drop pod heavy?

[720pts] - MT/Inq - Inquisition base

I think MT are good allies for armies like Skitarii as they can join up with your faster units in the enemy backfield, or at least add another threat. I have a small set of Ad Mech (SC Box, Rustalkers, Infilitrators, Destroyers), but I jumped ship to a pure MT Army.

I'd stick with the Meltas if playing DS heavy on the MT since your Skitarii are already pretty good at taking out infantry. Your Arc Rifles can focus the transports coming towards you and your melta can take out the targets sitting back. You will still have two HS Lasguns and a HS Laspistol on your Tempestor which can provide some AP3 if there isn't a vehicle in range of your melta. They will also more than likely be too far away to receive orders from your CS unless they DS too (making Gets Hot a real possibility), and you will want to use the orders on your CS anyway if they have four Plasma Rifles. Against low AV armies you can obviously do without the melta, and perhaps proxy some flamers if they are running an infantry gun line.

If you were taking MT as a stand alone army I would take two Missile Launchers (Autocannons) and one Gattling (Volley) for the Taurox, and give one CS four HS Volley Guns. They need some long range firepower as they are not a CC force, and running MSU's there is no guarantee that you will wipe out a squad when within 18". The MLs will serve as your primary means of anti tank until reserves come in (or they are wiped out). Are you planning on just having three Taurox on the board with everything else in reserves? If so you will have to play a bit of keep away, which plays more towards the strength of ML over Gattling against just about anything but Drop Pods. I'd consider putting some infantry in at least one Taurox if you anticipate a Drop Pod heavy list.

Cheers for the reply, nice to know I'm along the right lines with the meltas on the scions, hadn't thought of the advantages of having AV able to hit both the front and back cheers for that.
Guess it's a good job it's easy to magnetise the Taurox, as all though I don't intend on fielding this as a standalone force on the rare occasions I do the longer range will be beneficial.
