[500 - 1500] - Nurgle Daemons - Mono Nurgle Semi Competitive List

Good day all,

I am looking at creating a chaos daemons army, I want to focus on a mono nurgle list because all the models look great.

I have around £200 and want to make a fun/ competitive list.

Assuming I have the codex £30 not needed from the £200 budget.

Im looking at picking up:
Great Unclean One
2 Boxes of Nurglings
3 Boxes of Plaguebearers
1 Box of Drones
2 Daemon Princes

After browsing a few other forums I think that this may be a good start, giving me a few options to try out.
I have also looked at the best load outs for units.

500pt List

HQ - Daemon Prince, Mastery Level 3, Wings, Warp Forged Armour, 2 Greater Rewards.

Troops - 10 Plaguebringers.
10 Plaguebringers with an instrument.

The idea here is to use one of plague bringers to hold an objective my side of the table, then send the daemon prince up (Potentially cutting costs with Mastery level 2 and one greater gift to give him a nurgling meat shield for cover saves?) and then deepstrike in the second unit of plague bearers to grab an objective. I guess I would have to rely on getting Ironarm every turn to make the Daemon Prince have Toughness 8?

Anyway all criticism welcome! what do you think at the 500 pt level?

Now to expand on that list my local club plays games at 1500pts so I need to reach that stage,
Heres what im thinking:

HQ - Great Unclean One Mastery level 3 and 2 Greater Rewards.

Troops -
3 Nurglings
3 Nurglings
10 Plague Bearers
10 Plague Bearers
10 Plague Bearers w/ Instrument

Fast Attack
3 Plague Drones, Rot Proboscis, Deaths Hands and a Plague Bringer Upgrade

Heavy Support
Daemon Prince, 2 Greater Rewards, Daemonic Flight, Warp Forged Armour and Mastery Level 3
Daemon Prince, 2 Greater Rewards, Daemonic Flight, Warp Forged Armour and Mastery Level 3

Not sure how this will perform but the idea is to run the great unclean one up behind 3 nurglings for a cover save, use 1 unit of plaguebearers to hold an objective my side if needed, deep strike in the other 2 units of plague bearers, and charge the daemon princes and plague drones up to distract them and kill.

What do you guys think?
Would you change what im buying? Maybe replace some models?

Thank you all!

[500 - 1500] - Nurgle Daemons - Mono Nurgle Semi Competitive List

GUO's just aren't that good. They're tough but sooo unbearably slow that you'll rarely ever get them to do too much. That said if you *have* to have one them precision deep striking them with an icon is pretty much the only way to go. Plague Drones are prime candidates to be the beacon since they are fast and hard to shift.

A quick mention on your purchases: it's actually pretty easy to squeeze two Princes out of one kit with even a modicum of creativity and modelling ability. All you really need is an extra pair of suitable wing bits and a little bit of green stuff or the like.

List building and tactics wise with the Princes, it's a go big or go home affair. You pretty much always want ML3 2 Greaters and a Lesser on them. You don't have to worry about getting cover for them because you can always jink for a 2+ cover save.

I don't play mono Nurgle but I absolutely love using a big Plague Drone unit. 6 Drones with rot proboscis (gives them poison 3+) with a plague bringer with greater reward (default to greater aetherblade for +1S AP2 weapon) and two ML2 Heralds (one with Locus that gives unit FNP, both with greater rewards) makes for a unit that can take on just about anything. Roll on Biomancy with both and profit.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
If you want to be about as cutthroat as mono Nurgle can be look at something like this:

CAD 1:

Nurgle Prince: ML3, Armor, Flight, 2x Greater, Lesser
Nurgle Prince: ML3, Armor, Flight, 2x Greater, Lesser

3x Nurglings
3x Nurglings

CAD 2:

Nurgle Herald: ML2, Greater, FNP Locus
Nurgle Herald: ML2, Greater, Grotti the Nurgling (- 1T to all non Nurgle models within 6")

3x Nurglings
3x Nurglings

6x Plague Drones: Rot Proboscis, Plague Bringer w/ greater reward.

Thanks for your reply,

Quick question as regards to the daemon prince pack and making two of them, is there anything online you could link me demonstrating it?

Also the list you made looks great however its 1537pts im guessing both heralds go on Palanquins?
Should i drop one unit of nurglings? or would that make the list illegal?

Im very excited for starting my nurgle army, and all the help you can give would be great!

No palanquins for the Heralds. The extra wounds are tempting but too pricey. The list actually clocks in at 1472 I believe
