However, I don't know how to paint it without looking the exact same as any other metal part (like their weapons for example).

For example, I paint the weapons, backpack nozzles, etc on my Marines by using Army Painter Plate Mail Metal ( a middle metallic colour), then three washes - Nuln Oil, Agrax Earthshade then Nuln Oil again. For the platinum plates on my Company Champion, I simply used a single wash of Nuln Oil, then a thin glaze of Guilliman Blue around the edges.

So, assuming you normally use Leadbelcher - Nuln Oil - Ironbreaker or similar, use Ironbreaker or even Runefang Steel as your base colour.
