If like me you've been watching the new releases from GWS for a few months and saw "How to Paint Magnus The Red" from WarhammerTV then you've probably been itching to get your hands on it.

Last night i decided to bite the bullet and grab myself one from my Local GWS Store (Which now is just called "Warhammer")

In this blog you'll be able to follow along with my building and painting progress as well as enjoying my thoughts on what i think.



First off it comes in a really nice box. And looking at the sprues its nicely detailed.
The instruction are in full colour too which is kinda expected for something like this. It also (which i didnt realise) has the game rules for this Miniature in the back.



The build process so far seems fairly easy.
My major concern is that with it being mostly organic (Skin and Muscle) that the seams i'm seeing arent going to be filled in. Kinda hoping that during the priming and painting process they'll disappear.







One final note on the Magnus head building. Theres a part (35) which had be stumped for about 15 minutes. I for the life of me couldnt figure out how it fit into the rest of the model. Turns out i was trying to place it too high and at the wrong orientation.

Thats it for now.
Going to continue building and then prime today.
Another trip along to the store to get the paints that i dont have and i can start painting either later on tonight or tomorrow

The wings i think are mislabelled in the guide and the sprues but that are absolutely beautiful.
Again i'm thinking any seams should vanish with priming.



Now the model is complete (minus the armour) and i think he looks pretty good with and without his wings.




All i'm waiting to do now is for the glue to set up and then he'll be primed

One Final update for the night
i decided that to give this one a more "Regal" feel (since he is a Primarch) i did the emblems and the trim on his wings in gold.

So this is my progress over about a 12 hour period on and off.

Thinking that i might do the trim/detail in Gold to help that colour flow through the model.

I also paint the hair to be a much darker shade of pink than what is on the box

As annoying as it was to do i'm quite pleased with out the cloth came out.
I'm going to do the bottom in Gold and then do the other two pieces.
